A few little things made an otherwise mundane trip to CVS just a little more enjoyable.
1) I didn't have Theo. (Thanks, Brighten!) I sure love the guy but did you know that a quick trip to CVS is 75% shorter if he is not present? Normally it goes something like this: buckle, unbuckle, hold hands, chase, chase, look for single item I need, hold hands, buckle, unbuckle. This time it went something like this: look for single item I need, eat candy, go home.
2) "Rosanna"by Toto was playing on the sound system. Maybe not a top pick for most people, but do I love it? I DO! So what if it's about twice as long as it should be?
3) I decided at the last minute to treat myself to some candy since I rarely eat it. After some inner debate by the dazzling display at the checkout counter, I chose dark chocolate peanut M&Ms, which turned out to be only 20 cents. Wowza. I have to say I was slightly disappointed by the actual candy, it being the first time I'd tried it. Oh well. Can't expect too much from M&Ms. For some reason I only really enjoy them in movie theaters, or out of candy dishes at my in-laws' house.
Speaking of which . . . let us have a moment of silence for all of the M&Ms, Snickers bars, Reese's peanut butter cups, and other candy bars like "Mr. Goodbar" which only seem to come in mini form, that Theo will never eat. "Trick or treat . . . um . . . okay, I'll take the Laffy Taffy, I guess. Or maybe one or two of the generic lollipops from Smart & Final that come in clear plastic wrappers, which are connected in a long string of lollipops."
4) I now have a supply of ferrous fumarate (the only iron supplement I like and quite difficult to find in most stores) to last me through this pregnancy and postpartum and maybe even the next one . . . so . . . here's hoping I won't have to set foot in CVS again for months or YEARS!

I was in CVS last night - for a knee brace that I hope will cure my aching knee!
But I love prowling around CVS - I often find hidden treasures!!
I should post about the skirts I have found there.
And the cute sweatshirt I resisted last night- since it's 96 degrees each day, why do I need another cute sweatshirt??
This is completely random but I went to enrichment recently where girls were talking about gaucho pants so I said, "Are those pants or a skirt? They're gaucho pants. I got them on sell!"
Then people gave me blank looks and continued with their conversation. I knew if you had been there, you would have understood. But it did need to be said, or at least quoted.
Can it really have been 8 years since we first met? Makes me feel awfully old!
Haha to the Never Been Kissed comment.
And I always love a little Toto in my life. So many gems that I never knew the potential of. Did you know that Africa is like... the perfect running song? I'm just saying.
And now that I've seen the mustached singer singing right into the camera with Rosanna twirling around in the back... I'm sold.
Okay, so funny because today I was watching a Will and Grace rerun, and Grace's convict boyfriend was singing that song, only he would put "Grace Adler...yeah" where the Roseanna...yeah went.
Okay, writing it out made it a little less funny, but whatever.
Yeah, the video is pretty much awesome. Don't you think it would have been fun to play "Rosanna"? She looked like she enjoyed herself. I also like the greasers. Also, I really don't remember the song being so long. It's not really the type of song you'd want to listen to often, but great for listening to in CVS.
I would have laughed at your Never Been Kissed reference, Susie.
I think "Rosanna" is sort of an underappreciated little sister to "Africa."
by "play Rosanna" I mean be the dancer in the video.
It is unappreciated, just like "Hold the Line" and any other Toto song. (Do they have any other songs?)
PS, I posted that video on my friend Christina's Facebook wall, and she responded by telling my that her friend's goal in life is to bless the rains down in Africa during a prayer at church. And I always forget that they're saying they bless the rains, because it sounds like miss the rains, no?
I'll be honest, I can't go into a pharmacy without thinking of Mom. It was all those trips to Sav-on as a child.
I HEART Toto! They are very under-apppreciated.
So apparently no one has an opinion to share on the dark chocolate M&Ms.
Also--I also have fond memories of going to Sav-On with Mom. Somehow trips to CVS as an adult (especially in the DC metro area, The Capital of Customer Service) just aren't the same.
ummm- i do enjoy dark chocolate - but dark choc m&m's just didn't do it for me.
Halloween isn't that bad. Just let him get whatever candy he wants (that's the fun part at this age anyway). When you get home let him eat a few safe candies and then when he goes to bed you confiscate all the unsafe candy and send it to work with your hubby to get it out of the house. Come Trick or treating over here, we have safe candy.
