For the past few months it has been my deadline for my "Nesting List." The Nesting List has contracted and expanded as the weeks have gone by, with a few mainstays--namely, the things I left until last, namely, buying Christmas presents and putting Halloween costumes together. It has also included such delightful activities as cleaning out closets, assembling beds, purchasing warm clothes for Theo that actually fit, tossing or storing various possessions, and yes, even sewing. It hasn't included cooking and freezing meals...I should probably get on that...maybe it would be a good "distraction" project for early labor, whenever that might rear its bashful head.
So, moving on with the October 1 theme: I think I will always be a summer girl, but fall comes in at a close second. It comes with such beautiful weather and colors, particularly where I live; pumpkins and corn stalks are just so charming; and there's so much to look forward to throughout the season--school starting! Halloween! Thanksgiving! (two holidays I never appreciated enough until I had a child) and the grand finale leading into winter: Christmas!!
This year I decided to adopt one of beloved blogger Nie Nie's traditions, which I have meant to do for the past few years and haven't: Ichabod and chocolate donuts on October 1. Doesn't that sound great? I haven't watched The Legend of Sleepy Hollow since grade school (it seems we watched it at school every Halloween), and I do enjoy me a chocolate donut now and then, so I am looking forward to borrowing this tradition this year. I'll let you know how it goes.
Happy October! (almost.)

Let us not forget that October 1st means the beginning of Bontober!!
October 1st is the day we watch 'It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown'
It is also the day "Hocus Pocus" is allowed out of the video cabinet.
To me October treats are glazed donuts and apple cider.
The red eyes are kinda creepy! And I think her name was Amy...but I'm not positive on that so I wouldn't bet money on it. Maybe you will run into her (since apparently she is in that area) and you can take some more sneaky pictures!
Same with me Karen. I love donuts and cider. We actually have nothing planned on Thursday so I just might have to borrow Nie's tradition as well!
I LOVE October! I am totally a fall girl, I just can't handle the heat. Plus, I LOVE all the holidays that are just around the corner. I have had my Halloween decorations up for over a week already!
Can we get together already?!?! Together, we will look like we are having quadruplets!! Imagine the comments!!
Red eyes huh!?!?
I hope no one was too spooked by the eyes. It was from last Halloween...it's supposed to be spooky.
I also find the picture of Theo (also from last Halloween) to be oddly creepy.
if the theo pix had red eyes - it would be super creepy - not that you want to go there.
and i love donuts and cider - i'm game for a party.
it can kick off bontober (thanks mom!)
