Textiles

Dude...UO has some sweet, cheap rugs.

Do you like how I just used "dude" and "sweet" in the same sentence? Not to mention "cheap." I am trying to uphold my Western reputation here in the Far East.

A couple of months ago I purchased their Leafy Vine Printed Rug, which apparently is no longer available. It turns out that I don't actually have anywhere to put a 5x7 rug printed with teal and chartreuse leaves, but it was on sale and I really liked it. So, someday it will fit somewhere.

Although I am clearly bordering on the ridiculous with my Revamp/Nest Projects, Matt is being very understanding.

Most of UO's "home" stuff looks great but is pretty crappy--like this couch that I am in love with in theory, which I would be in love with in real life if only it had one, just one positive user review. Or if any of their furniture ever had one positive user review. And most of their cheaper rugs are pretty thin, but it's hard to go wrong with a decent-looking rug, even if it only lasts a year. Because currently, based on my checking account and my level of need, I can't justify buying 5x7 rugs in the real world.

I am also enjoying their bedding and pillows and pretty much all the textiles. I wouldn't quite call the textile selection a poor man's Anthropologie, but almost. Maybe a poor man's Anthropologie clearance section--that's more like it.

You can always put a rug in the middle of the kitchen.

And I understand you love of a couch.

We never have had a new couch - newly recovered ones that we do love - but I used to covet the whole idea of a new couch.

We'll probably never have a new couch.

i kept wondering what UO was until i finally clicked on the link.

and most furniture and home stuff is pretty crappy quality unless you are willing to go higher dollar - or antique.

and we are searching for a rug for our bedroom - what a nightmare - and i have bruce - who has an considerable resources re: these things.

so i guess my point is - i feel your pain.

that was my plan all along...to force traffic to urbanoutfitters.com.

yeah, i never actually call it "uo" but urban outfitters is such a long name to type. now that i have typed it twice just in this comment.

the perfect rug is hard to find. i would think it would be even harder if you have more choices than the average consumer, e.g., if your husband is a designer.

Yeah, Robbie and I have been debating getting area rugs, but they're just so expensive and we're still in transition. So maybe one of these will do for now. Thanks for the tip!
