Thanks for Sundays.

Right now in this stage of life, with four kids at home and not much else claiming our time one day a week...

I'm thankful for Sunday nights. We have this routine now where we have dinner (which Matt makes, thank you Matt), read scriptures together, clean up, and then once it's dark, everyone gets in their PJs and watches movies or sports or whatever (that's Sunday-appropriate) until bedtime. This is a big treat because during the school year the kids really don't watch much TV. As I type this, Theo and Matt are watching football; and Ida, Lars and Polly are watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch (their latest discovery, which I am so pleased with--'90s forever).

I'm thankful for Sunday afternoons. Some of us nap, some of us play, some read or listen to music or clean up messes (hmm, I think I'm the only one who does that last one). Sometimes we go on an outing together if we are feeling adventurous.

I'm thankful for Sunday mornings. Sometimes I have an early meeting, sometimes I don't. We all go to church at 8:30 and we are happy to be there. (My kids have all generally been happy to go to church and I hope it stays that way...) We worship God in our familiar and comfortable way, we reflect on the week and vow to do better, and we see friends, and we meet new people, and we talk and share and sing and listen together.

It's a good day.
