Loved it part 2

Sigh.

I finished this book in a day and a half. Laughed, cried, etc. It reminded me a lot of Mrs. Mike, one of my favorite books ever. Now These Is My Words joins that list. How did I miss this?? It was published like 12 years ago. I picked it up on Sunday night and after about 4 characters died within the first chapter (all of different things like...scalping, infection, snake bite, gunshot wound) I couldn't put it down. Then when the handsome, capable army captain showed up a few pages later--was that before or after the main character Sarah outshot all the men in the wagon company?--I knew I was hooked. Can't beat a good frontier love story + girl power.

OK, I think now it is time for me to emerge from the book fog I have been in, having read 4 books in the past 2 weeks. Yikes. Hey, how did my kitchen get so messy if all I was doing was reading??

Loved These is my Words, plus the next two Sarah's Quilt and The Star Garden. These is my Words is the best.

I have to read this. Mrs. Mike is just about my favorite book, too. I will check my book club and see if they have it. thanks for the tip! Congrats on being an aunt again. The baby is adorable, as are all the Terrill babies.

Pam, I really think that if you like Mrs. Mike you will love Sarah Prine. Have fun!!

Lynnette, don't tell me there are sequels. I have to stop reading because for me reading = ignoring kids and house. I don't know how people read in moderation. I get going and it's apparently way more fun in my fantasy world than in my real world because I have a hard time stopping.

I very much enjoyed this book - and thought it was like an American Mrs. Mike too. I'm delighted to know that so many people seem to love Mrs. Mike - for awhile there no one I mentioned it to had ever heard of it!!

I too have a hard time reading in moderation - so I just don't start sometimes. And then other times I can't find anything compelling to read. Good, interesting, thought-provoking - but nothing compelling.

Probably one of my top 5 favorite reads. I am so glad that you enjoyed it. Captain Jack Elliot is pretty dreamy!

I loved that Sarah was never described as beautiful or not. I got the feeling that she was just normal looking but her mad skills shone through. I get tired of all the books that only star beautiful women.

I know! I love this book! You will have to read the others. I don't think they are as good, but worth the read. Well, maybe the last one is as good, I don't know. Never heard of Mrs. Mike so I'm excited that I have one to add to my list. Oh, have I mentioned I'm loving the Betsy-Tacy series? I wish I would have known about it when I was in my young teens.

Loved this book. Right up there with The Diary of Maddie Spencer. I will to see if Mrs. Mike is available at my library.

I am reading Born to Run right now and liking it as well - completely different from your book review today.

I listened to these three, My Words, Sarah's Quilt, and The Star Garden, on a road trip. It was one of the best trips ever! It was also fascinating to me since we're in Tucson and it is set here in Arizona. How in the world did they live and be happy without a pool and air conditioning? Life is what you make it!
