Loved it.

When I saw the trailer for Inception I knew it was my kind of movie. I was a little worried when we went to see it last night that I would hate it because my expectations were too high. I tried not to be excited about it. But I couldn't help myself because...Christopher Nolan's movies are awesome.

And, it was as just as awesome as I had hoped. It's the kind of movie that I want to go back and watch again (like Memento or The Prestige, but not as twisted). The characters were well cast, the action built at just the right pace, and I can't refuse "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien" as a recurring motif. I hope my raving about it doesn't set your hopes too high should you choose to watch it. But if you do want to watch it, I recommend going to a packed theater rather than Netflixing it later. Not only is it visually psychotic enough that you'll want a big screen, but the collective gasps from the audience make it even more fun.

I have never even heard of this movie and yet everywhere I go, everyone is talking about it!!

Hope it stays in the theaters till I get home - because we are going to any movies around here anytime soon - unless it's a kids' matinee!

i also would have really liked it if in one of the dreams, marion cotillard would have turned into her elderly edith piaf character and was the one singing "non, je ne regrette rien."

I actually refused to read or listen to anything about it before I saw it. the day before we went, Matt mentioned that someone raved about it on the radio, and I said, "Nope, don't want to hear it." Because I knew it wouldn't be as good as I wanted it to be, if my hopes got too high.

Dismally low expectations were a big reason, for example, that I really enjoyed the movie "Valkyrie." I had modest expectations for "Inception" and thought it was really fun to watch.

From the blog you linked to--describes what I think too:

"I thought it was an incredibly fun and satisfying piece of entertainment and a remarkable piece of plot-engineering, but not so much a work of art or or an especially moving story. (Cobb's guilt and mourning for his late wife, and his desire to get home to his children, worked mechanically, but the relationships felt too generic to really work emotionally.) I don't know if the movie wrote around every implausibility or hole—I'm still trying to figure out why, since the team had to rush the inception ahead of schedule, they nonetheless emerge from the dream minutes before landing—but as with Lost, I don't really care that much."
