Gee, do they still make wooden Christmas trees?

Yesterday I was feeling somewhat BAH-HUMBUGGISH so I decided the remedy would be to decorate for Christmas. I decided to get a mini-tree, which is what we did a few years ago and I remember liking it. It's up off the floor on a stand, kids not all up in the ornaments, doesn't take up too much room, etc.

So, the kids and I went to Home Depot, took a tree home and set it up.

and...

It's TINY!

It's not "TINY" but it's 3 feet tall; 5 with the stand. It looks even smaller in our living room than it did at the lot. I'm actually considering going back and getting a bigger one. It wouldn't be the first time...last year I bought 2 trees too, because our first tree lost half its needles after about 2 weeks and it didn't smell piney enough to me, so the first tree went out on the balcony for the remainder of the season and we had two trees. This one isn't very piney smelling either...as a matter of fact, the only tree we've ever gotten that was completely satisfying in the piney-smelling department was at a farm the Christmas before Theo was born. Hmmm. Maybe a trip to the farm is in order. Can you have too many Christmas trees, really? Is one really enough?

Oh well, at least I don't feel too Bah-Humbuggish anymore, although you wouldn't know it with all the complaining I am doing about the mini-tree. I still kind of want to go get "a nice, big, shiny aluminum Christmas tree...maybe painted pink!", but I do like our cute little tree. It's growing on me...figuratively, of course.

Here's Theo (11 months) with our mini-tree of '07.

haha this sort of reminds me of Theo singing to the pumpkin this year...does he have a predilection for speaking to inanimate holiday-related objects? So cute.

If you want that piney smell, you should get a balsam something (maybe not tree, but wreath or something). They are amazingly fragrant, like the lily of the conifer world.
