When I look into your eyes

I am a bit of a dreamer. I mean that literally. Pregnancy makes my dreams even more vivid. But I also enjoy the effects of other people's dreams. For instance, sometime in the middle of last night I heard Matt clicking the buttons on his alarm clock. Then at 4:30 a.m., Matt's alarm went off. "Why is your alarm going off?" I asked incredulously when I realized what time it was. "You told me to set it for 4:30," he mumbled. "Or wait . . . maybe that was in a dream." Yeah, he had set his alarm for 4:30 in his sleep. I assured him that if I ever needed to wake up at 4:30, I'd go ahead and set my own alarm.

An even better dream was our friend Taylor's. A few weeks ago Taylor stayed with us for a few days. On the second day he recounted a dream he had had early that morning. Matt was getting ready for work, shaving, tying his tie, etc., and as he did so I tiptoed through the room wearing a floaty, flowery dress. Then I sat down at the piano and began a few Guns'N'Roses - inspired arpeggios to accompany Matt while he prepared for work. Matt hummed and sang along under his breath. "When I look into your eyes . . . " This was our morning routine. In Taylor's words, I was "supporting Matt in my own way."

I have to say that although I don't make dinner for Matt, I do serenade him on the ol' keyboard sometimes and that must make up for it. Right?

In my defense, when we woke up at 4:30, I knew exactly what had happened. So when Eliza said, "Why did you set your alarm for 4:30!" I simply replied, "Because you told me to in a dream." I knew what I was saying, and thought it humorous. Eliza didn't see any humor in the situation. At least not until 2:03pm today. She did tell me too in a dream, I just don't remember any of the details. But when Eliza tells me to do something, I do it.

Oh man, thanks for the laugh. I know those scenarios all too well.

"When I look into your eyes... you've got the body of a goddess, and an angel's face."

Name that tune, E!

Very, very wise, Matt.

Is it from a Showoff song? at least from a similar era.
