Thanks for piano lessons

My parents gave me the gift of piano lessons throughout my childhood and adolescence, and we’re giving the same to our kids. The rule in our home when I was a kid was that you took lessons until you were 16. Matt and I haven’t established a rule like that—it’s just the expectation that they’ll keep playing—but we’ll probably need to lay down a rule at some point.

It’s not always easy getting them to practice. But we’re sticking with it. I’m thankful for great piano teachers, I’m thankful for our piano, I’m thankful for all the life lessons kids learn from piano besides the actual music, like persistence and the power of taking small steps. (I’m also thankful that so far no one has said they want to quit!)

I am so grateful that you persisted - I love hearing you play the piano or the organ!
