Thanks for the seasons.

I grew up without seasons (Californians sometimes tell you they have seasons, buuuut... they don’t really) and I was as happy as a clam. I proudly never owned a coat. When I moved to Utah for college, the cold air threw me for a loop. Ugh I HATED IT! Then eventually I moved to Virginia, and I had kids, and I eventually learned about dressing for the weather. I learned about bug spray in summer and warm boots in winter and raincoats in spring. I learned how to get the most from each time of year and how to spend it happily and comfortably outside.

I especially grew to LOVE the changing trees (here in the Land of 1 Billion Trees, as I have dubbed it) and the signs of each impending season. Maybe someday we’ll live in a warmer climate again, but oh, I love the seasons so so so much. It only took about 10, 15 years, but I am ALL IN, baby!

Growing up in Southern California, it felt like we had seasons = mostly having to do with wind or weather changes. And it seemed like we had more rain. But I do love the changing seasons when we have visited you.
