Monday, Monday

Babies babies babies babies babies babies babies babies babies...

(Sung to the tune of the opening of "All My Life" by K-Ci and Jojo, that slow-jam hit of 1998 that we of a certain age danced to at many a stake dance. Robbie and Hannah used to sing it, ["babies" instead of "baby"] and I confess I sing it a lot to myself.)

Anywho, Theo turned 9.

The requisite photo of the birthday person blowing out the candles. Why is this a thing? (The puffed-out cheeks picture, that is)

But for that matter, inviting children to take a deep breath and then spit all over the dessert meant for an entire group is also a weird tradition. One of my favorite stories about a certain man in our ward is that on birthdays, instead of letting the kids blow out their candles, he got out a hair dryer and made them blow the candles out with the hair dryer. I still laugh at that story years after first hearing it.

Polly turned 8 months. She is a joy and a delight. She brightens up for me all of my days, with a love so sweet in so many ways, I wanna stop and thank you baby, I wanna stop and thank you baby...how sweet it is to be loved by you!

I realize this blog post is rambly and reminiscent of my teenage blog days. Yes, I blogged as a teenager. Yes, I deleted most of those posts long ago.

I just love this baby. I JUST LOVE HER THE MOST. oops. Not the most of my kids. Just the most of the babies in the world.

Ida had the beginnings of a snaggle tooth, and I could not convince her to (a) pull it out herself or (b) let me pull it out. I really love pulling out teeth, so finally I offered her $10 to let me pull it. Sold!

I found the $10 bill crumpled at the bottom of her piano bag a week later. Finders keepers. I also have her wallet which she left under the couch at my brother's house in California at New Year's, and which has like $30 in it. Not the most careful with her money, this one. She hasn't mentioned any of this missing money to me and I'm not sure she's actually noticed its absence.

Lars is adorable and funny. But sadly I don't have any recent pictures or funny stories involving him. Other than the fact that his pants literally cannot stay up on his bum (it doesn't matter how tightly I cinch the waist), and he has a permanent plumber's crack. He's finally starting to notice it, but the fact that he notices it doesn't actually help his pants from falling down. I hope it doesn't embarrass him.

And to quote my grandma Helen, "Well, that's all I know." Best conversation ender ever. Well, second only to Matt's famous line from the first time we met 14 years ago, "Was there anything else you wanted to talk to me about?"

No. No, there wasn't.

My mom's side of the family pretty much ends all conversations with "I don't know anything else". Well ok then.
