Today I took 4 kids to the grocery store--as one does--and as we were loading the conveyor belt with our spoils, Polly started crying. And then she didn't stop. In past weeks I've had Ida and Theo take turns pushing her through the store in a stroller, but today I had decided to Baby Bjorn it, so there was nowhere to put her. We just had to listen to her cry and power through. I mean, I did talk to her and stuff, but she looked at me like, "I'm trying to tell you to change my leaking diaper and put me in a crib in a dark room. STOP WITH THE TALKING." Anywho, as I was one-handedly helping Lars get out of the cart, the lady in line behind me offered to hold Polly while I did my thing and then she commented on how "cute" Polly's cry was (you laugh, but she sounds a little like an angry lost lamb) and then she nodded approvingly at my piles of groceries and complimented me on feeding my kids healthy foods.
All while Polly cried her angry, lamb-y cry and my big kids picked through the candy display.
And that is why I like today.
A week from now, Polly and I will be on our way to California and a week after that, my kids will all be back in school. So no more of this 4 kids at the grocery store. That's the other reason why I like today.
But mostly I just like that there are super nice people in this world, and one of them happened to be standing behind me in the checkout line this morning.

So many good people in the world!! One of the main things I hope to teach my daughter.
I still have those kinds of days - but with grandkids - I like to think I handle them better than I used to!!
What a nice lady.
