I think Hannah and Noah might be the only other people in the world besides me who know the song "Mama's Kitchen" by Raffi, from his environmentally themed album Evergreen Everblue. Good times in the '90s. Hippie children unite! "Mama's kitchen got no dress code. You just come and eat your fill. Yeah. Yeah yeah yeah yeah. Mama's kitchen got no color code, come in your native skin!"
Anyway. A month or so ago the big kids and I were having fun during nap time and I decided to get the camera out, which I so rarely do. You can also get a sneak peek of the kitchen (or as the official mommy-blogger spelling goes, "sneak peak").
The upside-down self-portrait sent Theo and Ida into hysterics for a good 60 seconds.
Pegboard (in the background) is finally done now (wasn't then). I love Theo's face here.
The end. I'll post pictures of the kitchen soon. The "remodel," if you can even call it that, didn't cost a lot in money but it cost in time, and sanity. It's been just over a year since we started working on it. I'm happy about that though. It gave us time to think about what we really wanted to do and what we could really afford to do, and although we definitely don't have a glossy new-looking expensive sassy kitchen, we do have a kitchen that is functional, pleasant, and paid for. Not sure what more I could want, from a kitchen anyway! Other than a self-cleaning option maybe.

Excited to come and see all of you - and the kitchen!! What I can see looks great. There is nothing like loving your kitchen. I love mine - and I have never been able to say that before!
fun pegboard! are you going to outline all your gadgets with magic marker like Julia Child? :)
I ran across a photo on Pinterest one day a few months ago with the exact same cabinet color as mine and a big wall of pegboard. And then I realized it was hers! I haven't outlined the pots and pans but maybe if my pot-and-pan collection gets as big as hers, I'll consider it! ;)
