Passing time, waiting for Theo's bus.
Lars and Ida are lucky to have each other on long, rainy afternoons while Theo is at school. I'm lucky to have them too. We miss Theo when he's gone. It's really nice to have some quiet in the house for a couple of hours, I adore my one-on-one time with hilarious Ida while Lars takes a (way too short) nap, and Theo definitely loves going to school. But by 3 p.m. we are all about ready to welcome him home. (he gets home at 4.)
The first couple of months of school Theo was a wreck from the time he got home until he went to bed. He was just so exhausted. I finally got my act together and started the habit of making dinner a few minutes after he got home. So on most days, we have dinner at 5 and the kids are in their PJs at 6. Part of it is probably just the passage of time--Theo is used to school now--but I think part of it is the earlier dinner and earlier bedtime. Either way, the late afternoon isn't such a terrible time anymore. I actually like it, on school days anyway. I especially like putting all of my sleepy babies to bed at 6 or 6:30 and letting the long evening ahead turn into time just for me and Matt.
Then of course Lars is up at 5, but at least Theo and Ida sleep in until 7. Win some, lose some. I still prefer the early bedtime.

Sounds like our house...minus the school bus part. My kids are in bed between 6 and 6:30 too. Needless to say they are up at 6 am as well. At least it forces me to get up and going for the day, right?
My kids always went to bed early - and were up early too - but I thought it was a good trade off!
Cuteness overload.
