"That kid next door's a meatball."

Just Ida mowing the lawn at 9 p.m. in her jim-jams. NBD. Has nothing to do with my post but I needed a picture.

So, onward. Does anyone else think it's lame if someone says they don't have time to eat? Because, I think that's lame.

Well, sometimes I don't have time to eat.

It has something to do with having a newborn. (does almost-5-months count as a newborn??) I remember having the same problem when Ida was a baby. "When faced with a 27-second window in which to select, prepare, and consume my lunch, I decide on a piece of ham, a bite of string cheese, and a spoonful of whipped cream." See here for a quick reminiscence of that blessed time of my life. It involved heavy lifting. And blood. Glad it's over.

Before Lars Baby, when I needed quick protein, I used to eat a lot of cheese and yogurt. And those yogurt smoothie drinks...yum.

Now I snack on, among other things, meatballs.

Yep, I put a package of meatballs in my freezer, and if I need something fast (for instance, while I am cooking dinner. Does anyone else get starved while cooking dinner?) I zap a couple in the microwave for a minute.

I also eat a lot of avocados. And beans. And hummus.

Did you know that avocados can last a REALLY long time in the fridge? Like, weeks. They might not taste that great, but if you ask Matt, they don't taste like anything to begin with.

I like fresh foods too. Honeycrisp apples with chunky peanut butter...and I have never eaten so many bell peppers.

Also chocolate almond milk is amazing. It took me a while to get used to the taste but I LOVE IT now. Don't so much love regular almond milk but I love the chocolate stuff.

And, that's all I've got for you today. A list of what I eat. Which reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from one of the lamest movies ever which for some reason I own: "Call him in the middle of the night and tell him everything you had to eat that day." Anyone? Anyone??

Bonus points for the title quote. The movie that one is from is decidedly NOT lame.

I'll be honest, I am never too busy to eat. I am however too busy to eat healthy a lot of the time which is probably worse.

I love the picture of Ida mowing the lawn... Awesome!

I don't know if you have a bbq (even if you did you probably wouldn't have time to use it) but barbecued meatballs are really good.

Avocados have a distinct flavor. Apparently, Matt doesn't have the an acute palate to appreicate them. Too bad for him.

I have a bag of honeycrips now. Dip them in nutella and you can increase your variety. Hmmm.

This post is making me hungry!

That 2008 post you linked to is kind of my life right now. Without the blood. (Knock on wood.)

I should clarify, it's really more that I don't have time to eat right. Or, really more that I forget to eat until I am starving and then I need something fast. Usually it's just a problem in the middle of the day. Breakfast I am great on. Dinner, pretty good. Lunch and snacks are terrible.

Vickie: YES!

And the title quote is one maybe only Mandy would know...where are you Mandy...or Sarah Jean!

Unfortunately the problem with Nutella (for me) is that it contains milk. I realized that the hard way. I mean it's pretty obvious but I didn't think about it until after I had eaten some. I am used to it now--no milk chocolate.

I was going to say that your diet sounds like mine when I was nursing Kyle....then I remembered the no dairy connection! Avocados were my daily indulgence. For a chocolate fix I found that ghiradelli chocolate chips were dairy free. Just FYI. :) You seem like you are eating healthy to me though! Well, aside from a meatball everyday I guess. But, I think that would only be bad if you were eating like 10 meatballs a day. Is Lars really 5 months old?

I never had food issues while nursing, but I did during one pregnancy when my gallbladder was attacking me.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this.

They are turkey meatballs, which helps a little bit. :)

Actually whenever I eat one I get excited for Thanksgiving. I kind of love turkey.

I actually like the unsweetened almond milk. That being said, the chocolate version is obviously better.

AHH! Milk. Don't worry. If Lars forgets to thank you when is older, I'll remind him.
