"Where did your kids get their beautiful blonde hair?"
As their mother, I get this question more often than I would expect to. I mean, I am no towhead but it's not like I'm sporting raven tresses either. Where do most blonde toddlers get their blonde hair? When people ask me that I'm not sure what to say. What comes to mind is something like "Actually, I'm a natural strawberry blonde too, but I dye my hair mouse-colored just to throw people off."

That is strange that people ask you that. I think of you as a blonde. Without any question, really.
tell them it's from DNA strand KITLG.
KITLG...GTK. I will have to file that one away.
Alexandra, what constitutes a "true blonde" can be a matter of pride for actual "true blondes"... :D
I know I'm not as blonde as my kids, but it's still funny when people ask the question. It seems like a big percentage of little kids are blonde for a time regardless of their parents' hair color, if their parents are both white and have any sort of Scandinavian blood at all.
I think it's just that people can't seem to just say, "What beautiful blonde hair!" Maybe they think it's not politically correct or something to just say so, so they ask the question instead.
So enlighten me - just what is KITLG? And GTK?
KITLG is apparently a DNA strand which causes blonde hair. And, GTK is Internet shorthand for "good to know."
Most often the question is phrased like "Where did your kids get that blonde hair?" And it tends to be from people of other ethnicities. So I guess it does make sense but it's just funny.
When you use that line "to throw people off" let me know how they respond, because that is hilarious!
