The best part about blogging on my mom's computer--the worst being that I am out of practice on a Mac and I forget about the placement of certain keys--is that if I am lacking in pictures I can always go to her archives and find something swell, like a picture of Hannah and me dressing up as Goldie Hawn in Overboard.I am feeling So. Good. about 2010. I hate to say that because I am a little bit superstitious and, as you probably know, for most superstitious people, saying that something is going to be good means that it will turn out bad. But I just feel so good about it that I have to say it anyway.
I have lots of resolutions this year but I think they are quite doable. I'm going to write them in a list for you sometime soon, since I know you are dying to know all about my doable resolutions. When I close my eyes and imagine my future self checking off these resolutions I can almost feel myself becoming a better person. Certainly a more pleasant person. I have my work cut out for me and that is For. Sure.
In fact--and I didn't even plan this to correlate with the photo, it just occurred to me now--I imagine myself whipping my home and soul into shape in much the way that Goldie Hawn did in Overboard, minus the amnesia, brattiness, and millions in independent wealth.
Currently 78 degrees in Monrovia, California and I just thought you should know that.
I am still feeling good about 2010.
See you when I get home.
*my favorite line from Overboard.

That picture cracks me up. Really, it does. For the first time in years I'm going to make some resolutions. I don't know why, but I feel the need to and some of them will be very cliche, like work out more, but I don't really care that they will not be anything inspiring. Looking forward to reading your doable list :)
this is one of our finest moments.
Love Overboard and love resolutions, just kidding about the resolution part but I can agree that 2010 is going to be great. I have some very big goals and if, scratch that, WHEN I succeed it's going to wonderful. So I'm excited to read yours.
I love this picture. And "Overboard" is one of my favorite movies.
I am in love with that picture of you and Hannah! You two are too funny. I miss you lots and look forward to you coming back. Be prepared to FREEZE.
Too funny, that picture is a crack-up. It still hard to believe that people used to dress like that!
ahhh - resolutions. will i make them this year?
I love Overboard, and love that photo, in a "Wow, weren't the 80s and 90s a terrible time for fashion" sort of a way.
Ha! That just made my day!! I loved the movie Overboard! Thanks for reminding me :)
make sure you overboard fans check out the youtube clip (linked at the bottom of the post).
I know nothing about Overboard.
But I know a lot about padded shoulders.
I always thought they were flattering on me.
I guess they look funny now though!!
Shoulder pads are back in now, Mom! But now they are called something like "Structured Shoulders" and they are modernized...that is to say, I don't think either of the pictured D.I. uni's would make it today.
I am looking at that picture more and I think that was from my trip to Utah and my first time at D.I (?). I remember I bought some really cheap books there.
yeah, you are the one to thank for that picture katie.
