Music...again!

I have been obsessed with music on this blog lately. Probably because I have been Spring Cleaning My Life (did I mention this to you yet?) and part of that has been getting into music "again." I feel like I went about a year without listening to music.

Anyway, at the bottom of the post is a sampling of what I've been listening to lately. Some of it is really awesome, and some of it is really random. Some of it has been on repeat constantly and some of it has just entered my consciousness once in a while. Some of it is completely new to me within the past month or two, and some of it are old favorites rediscovered after Matt unearthed our old giant book of mix CDs. None of it is especially in any order, except a few of my faves at the top.

Some of my favorites du jour are..."Hear Me Out" (which I am obsessed with right now), "In Your Atmosphere" (so freaking sad--you have to watch him play it too. How can he be so good?), "If I Had a Hammer" partly because I love it and partly because I am fascinated by Mary Travers--who I just found out died YESTERDAY?!--and everything by Blind Pilot.

Enjoy and PLEASE share what you are listening to so that I can try it out. It's a whole new world...for you and me. (or, just me.)

You can just never go wrong with Bob Dylan and "My oh My" is one of my faves.

I really have nothing to add because I am completly incompetent when it comes to music. I really only know about country and I am not too sure how you feel about that. You may like Lady Antebellum though and the new Kenny Chesney/Dave Matthews Band song is worth a listen. I think it's called "Alive and Well". You may like it.

Peter, Paul and Mary are such a part of my "coming of age" time in college - I was really sad to hear of her death. I love her voice.

I know next to nothing about current popular music - I tend to listen to Abba or the Beach Boys or Peter, Paul and Mary - and Pete Seeger - when I'm left to my own devices with the cd's around here. Some Piaf too. I like Dylan's songs but don't always like him singing them.

Your list is very "Fall", I love it. I listen to "The Winter Song" Spring, Summer, Fall... it's good no matter what. Good choices.

Blind Pilot has been playing a lot around here, too. And I just mixed in some classic Howard Jones. How is it that I didn't own that cd? Never fear, I do now!

You probably already know them, but Phoenix is one of my favorite bands right now. They are from Versailles, but sing in English. Two of my favorite songs are:

You're right, Nicole, it is very fallish. I hadn't realized that.

Thanks for the recommendations, Katie and Robbie!

I echo Robbie on the Azure Ray/Maria Taylor love. Our dating relationship was fueled by their music. I don't know how unweirdly to say that but it will always remind me of Robbie when I hear ol' Maria.

Sea of Doubts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_ltOGkmxtM (um, reminds me a little bit of sadness and breaking up but whatever, what a pretty song)

Sleep: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV6SyAuSxns

Displaced: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kQp1uxz5a0

Okay, all so sad. Sorry. Haha. I also like this MT one:

A Good Start: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCtHsJz6uBs

And I have to echo my enjoyment of "Polite Dance Song" and of course "How Deep Is Your Love," which Donna recorded THE ENTIRE first dance of me and Robbie at our wedding reception, which I even get bored watching, but what a good song.

Here are some other random songs that I just will list for you that I listen to constantly. Old and New, but mostly Old. "We could play some new songs, mostly old."

Fleetwood Mac--Everywhere
M83--We Own The Sky
Coldplay--Strawberry Swing
Queen--Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy
Peter Bjorn and John--Paris 2004
Carla Bruni--Quelqu'un M'a Dit
TI f/ Rihanna--Live Your Life (that seems to have a lot of hits on my iTunes...)
MSTRKRFT--It Ain't Love (again... no idea.)

The last two might be a little more intense than what you're looking for.

Also--does this mean you want to go see Blind Pilot in November?

Yes, we do. I thought I e-mailed you...but maybe that was just Matt.
