Here is Doug's favorite. (at the party) "So what have you been doing all day?" "Oh, same old, same old"
I personally enjoy when the groundhog is driving, but I really get a kick out of when Phil gets pulled over by the cops and he orders food and Ralph says, "and some flapjacks." "Is it too early for flapjacks?" I think that flapjacks is a funny word.
BTW I also really like the "tender" moments of the movie. I like the message of the movie as much as I like the funny parts.
When they wake up to February 3 is one of my favorite parts. I love how much Phil has changed and what a good person he has become. "Is there anything I can do for you...today?"
I also recommend watching the director's commentary version if you have the DVD. I promise we're not obsessed but Matt and I think it's really interesting. The original screenplay concept (or maybe it was a book? Anyway I think Harold Ramis rewrote a lot of it) had the main character reliving the same day for thousands of years.
Unlike your denial of obsession, I actually am obsessed!! I love Bill Murray. I feel bad I didn't watch it this year on the actual day but b/c I watch it so often throughout the year, I will forgive myself.
Favorite part: second night of the snowball fight - the recreate. Phil falls next to Rita in the snow and inches up to her with a cheesy grin. So forced. "Gee I love kids. I want to adopt these kids.."
Also had to respond to Alex's quote. "What a waste of time! I mean...for anybody else that would be an incredible waste of time. You must be a very, very strong person."
Someday when we have a big basement with a big TV we can start having real GHD parties. Instead we watch it on our computer and make our guests sit on our horribly uncomfortable couch, or better yet, on the floor. Someday!

"I'd like to drink to world peace."
HOW did I forget that it was today??! I'll watch it when I get home.
Rodger and I watched this on Friday night. I always think of you when I watch because I know how much you love the move.
My favorite quote- "Yeah Rita, they're hicks." Well that's one among many.
"Don't forget your booties because it's cold out there today!"
(Amazingly, I never saw the whole movie until last year; previously I just caught bits.)
"Don't drive angry".
Obvious, but a classic.
Not bad... Mr. Connors, you say this is your first lesson?
Yes, but my father was a piano mover, so...
I like to say a prayer and drink to world peace.
I can tell I need to watch this again!!
Sadly, none of my students had even heard of it!!
"19th century French poetry." "What a waste of time!" Bill Murray ismy favorite actor.
For some reason I always remember that the piano line is Matt's favorite.
We spent Groundhog day together last year...has it already been a year???

I told Hester that every time I watch Groundhog Day I find a new favorite line. It's like reading the scriptures--learn something new every time!
New favorite: while the groundhog is driving, Phil is teaching him to use the mirrors: "Side of your eye. Side of your eye."

Seriously such awkward moments at the "recreate" in the snow. "Hey, look at this, I got these over at Snowman City."

(I mean Alexandra. I got the wrong Alexandra)
