Second-day hair

My hair always looks better on the second day. Sleep flattens my poofy hair in a way no product or tool can. It took me a while to figure this out, but once I did, there was no going back. Two questions I have about this, though:

1) How can I make first-day hair look like second-day hair? Sometimes I can, actually, if I am able to take a nap before my hair dries completely. But really...if I wash it and let it air-dry it can be disastrous, particularly in humidity. But I don't do flatirons, blow dryers, or curling irons anymore...maybe I will take them up again someday but to be honest I don't even know where I've put them or if I still have them...so, any suggestions?

2) How can I take advantage of third-day hair so that my hair looks halfway decent 2/3 of the time instead of 1/2? Since I usually use a little bit of product on both the first and second day, by the third day things can get a little scary by the roots even if the shape is OK. I have thought about baby powder or dry shampoo. Do these work?

I suppose I could just ask my Personal Hairstylist these questions, but I am interested in your answers too. Plus she reads this blog anyway. (Except that she had a BABY last night! Welcome, Baby Sterling!!)

Congrats to Jessica and Sterling!!

And your hair always looks great to me - it's when you're old and not young and cute anymore that you need to stress about your hair!!

nighttime showers.

Also, mousse. I know that you will not be a fan of this and that you are likely to respond with some smart-aleck comment about Flock of Seagulls, but I swear, mousse does amazing things for my hair. Has to be good non-sticky mousse though, and applied when hair is wet. I use Got2b right now.

But I do agree with your mother. I've always liked your hair.

I always feel gross in the morning if I don't shower. But...good idea.

Also, mousse...I have actually used mousse in the past. Keeping in mind that your hair texture is completely different from mine...pomade-style products have worked pretty well for me. But adding more products on the 3rd day doesn't seem like a good idea, hence the dry shampoo. Maybe I will just buy some and try it. But would baby powder work just as well?

I hear you on the second day is better hair. My hair looks like Hagrids on the first day and is calm and relaxed after that. Let me know what you find out about dry shampoo.

Despite me not having a solution, I had to comment on how cute the young Eliza is. Such an adorable picture. I can see a lot of similarities between you and Theo. I kind of hope you have a girl now. She would be a darling addition to the fam.

shower at night - rinse off in the morning?

go for the buzz cut?

grow your hair out loooong and wear it in a pony tail all the time - like me. ;-)

I used dry shampoo once and was not impressed.

But it was long ago - maybe they've improved things!

I have a couple friends who swear by dry shampoo. Totally works, from what I can see. I would try it too, but I guess I'm too lazy even for that.
