My mom told me today that I am "obsessive." I remember when I was younger and I got a haircut I didn't like, she always said, "All hair does is grow." It's true, but that never made a bad haircut any better.
Nobody got a bad haircut, but I did take Theo in for a trim this morning and he ended up with a little-boy cut. It's not quite as short as the typical cut you are thinking of, but it is really short. The lady took way too much off; probably because he was thrashing and screaming the whole time. I may cry a little tonight myself, in the dark quiet of my room.
My mom called me "obsessive," by the way, because I mentioned his haircut about 50 times this afternoon.
I know it looks FINE, but I will need a few days to adjust. All of a sudden I seem to have a 12-year-old on my hands. (Or, my first reaction, "Mia Farrow from Rosemary's Baby.") I'm serious, all you need is a haircut on a baby and suddenly they're 10 times older.
I upload an after picture later, but here is a before picture so you can all remember his long locks. (I choose to forget the fact that I took him for a trim in the first place because said locks were getting a little out of control.)

I speak from experience - my own worst ever hair cut came from my own hands too!
In the 60's, girls often cut their own bangs - in fact, the practice was extremely common. We put a strip of scotch tape across them and cut just below the tape. Well, I cut mine too short - I'd cut them before myself - just did a very bad job that time.
I looked pretty scary for a few days - note it was only days, not weeks or months.
Hence my continued assertion to my daughters when they got bad haircuts - and they got them too - that all hair does is grow!!
A plus by the way - what if it didn't??
And Theo does look a bit older with his haircut - but he would have looked older with an excellent haircut too!
And they are supposed to look older with a hair cut!
I love the locks. My sister had the same problem with her boy's first haircut. He no longer looked like a "baby" and she was devastated.
Thanks for the congrats. I'm due at the end of January. :)
You'll find that he'll look much older when a little 8 pounder pops out of you. It's the facts of life (sing the song in your head, it's fun). Plus, it's fun to see the "little boy" emerge. Sad, but fun.
I can't wait to see it!
poor eliza. i understand about the obsessing (even though i seem to be the only commenter not pregnant and/or without children.) I am currently obsessed with painting my apartment and denying the fact that i am supposed to move in 6 weeks and am not really emotionally ready for it.
I keep waiting for the after picture. I'm sure it's not that bad.
