Thanks, Hannah! It was so much fun. Theo was a bit of a workout but really very well-behaved. I love the Kennedy Center and I love a good Messiah sing-along. The conductor really involved everyone and you could tell he loved the music and words; and it was an enthusiastic and kid-friendly crowd.
All-time favorites:
"Comfort Ye, My People"
"Behold the Lamb of God"
"And the Trumpet Shall Sound"
"For unto Us a Child Is Born"
"Hallelujah" (duh.)

i wish we could have been there too!! It sounds just like old times - good food, good people, good music - what else do you need??
We are going tomorrow night - but we are not having potato soup - since we are all congregating at the Disney Hall from different locations - but we are going to eat in the Disney Cafeteria together - and maybe they will have potato soup!
Thanks for sharing!!
Disney has a cafeteria?
Someone gave us Messiah scores a few years ago because she said that every family should have one. I didn't even look into going this year. I'll put it on my list for next year.
My Christmas wish is Scrooge McDuck a l'Orange on the menu at Disney tomorrow.
It's more like a cafe, but Bonny and Bruce ate at it last year and said it was good. We ate a pricey deli down the street - but it was good too.
Not potato soup though!
first, you don't me, but i adore your blog. really, almost everything about it adore. so, in a small way, i guess i adore you.
second, i love the messiah, but i have never heard a sing along. all your favorites are mine but i would also add the "oh death, where is thy sting?"
third, i am obsessed with that sissel song now that you've posted it and it makes me shiver with happiness. thank you.
ps I swear i'm not a stalker (although all the things i have said today are slightly starker-ish), just a fan.
I don't care how many times I hear "For Unto Us a Child is Born," I cannot help but cry, really cry. The whole work is so moving, so powerful. Nice that you got to enjoy it in person.
Still haven't done the Kennedy Center thing. It' on my list of things to do. The event you went to looks like so much fun!
No problem Miriam; welcome to my blog. And thanks for the compliments!
The Messiah (or any musical event for that matter) is 100x better live in a concert hall. And extra points for being in the midst of the singing. Maybe that's a "duh" statement but it's true!
