My new treat of choice is what I like to call S'more Trail Mix. If you have any sweet tooth at all, you may have already thought of this yourself. One day when wishing for a frosted graham cracker and having no frosting, or energy to make frosting, I made do with:
1 graham cracker (I like Original better than Honey), broken up into small pieces, + 1 handful of chocolate chips. Put it in a little bowl or bag and eat it like trail mix.
Innovative, I know.
You will probably need to refill once, I am just warning you.
You could add mini marshmallows too, make it a little more s'more-ish, but I haven't. Mainly because all I have are milk chocolate chips so it's already borderline too candyish, and marshmallows might make it a little too sweet. In fact I am sure that I would like it better with semisweet chips.
Teddy Grahams would work fine and be easier than breaking up a cracker.
If you want to go deluxe, stick it under the broiler or in the microwave for a few seconds. Messy, so maybe use a spoon. (Or maybe just make a s'more)
I don't know why I didn't think of this much, much sooner.
Probably because who has graham crackers lying around? Oh yeah, people with kids. I am that person now.

Last night at the LA County Fair, I had a deep fried s'more. Not as good as you would think. I also tried the deep fried Oreos, which were awesome.
We really wanted to try the deep fried snicker, but that stand was at the other end of the food area and we didn't feel like finding it.
I feel like such a pig after reading that over.
Liza-
We just made s'mores the other night on the stove and the kiddos loved it- fire and all! I have a great s'more cookie recipe (you substitute 1/2 the flour for ground graham crackers- awesome!) Anyway, I love love your blog and could read it for hours. It was great to hear from you and we would love you guys to come visit- so, come on up, we'll make you frosted grahams, watch an 80's flick and get to know little Theo :)
later- Mel
i like where your going with this - i would do honey maid graham honey sticks (teddy grahams are too sweet for me), semi-sweet choc chips (i agree w/ you on the semi-sweet issue and mini marshmallows.
i would put them in a zip loc and leave them in the car to get soft and melty or in a sunny window.
mmmmmmmm.
Ella and I are here reading this and smacking our lips!
For Jenn - I once had a deep fried Mars bar. It was amazing, but I could only eat a third of it before I started feeling like I was going to sweat oily chocolate for the rest of the day.
I thought of the Honey Maid sticks too. I have seen them in the store but not tried them.
It's probably been 5+ years since I had Teddy Grahams.
Thanks for the suggestions! I think I will stay away from the fried s'more though.
