Dear Theo,
Remember when you were born?

You came home from the hospital and pretty much slept for days. Besides sleeping, you also enjoyed eating, and staring. I enjoyed all of these activities as well.
Remember when you were 1 month old?

Your dad was back at work and your grandparents had gone home. I was a little bit nervous about this, after all you and I had only just recently met, but we got along fabulously.
Remember when you were 2 months old?

I started working part-time while you stayed home with your dad. You were such a good baby and hardly ever cried for long. I finally felt like I was starting to really know you.
Remember when you were 3 months old?

Your cousins, aunt and uncle, and grandparents came to Virginia for your blessing. You went on your first plane ride (to Boston), started sleeping in your own room, and learned how to laugh.
Remember when you were 4 months old?

I took you on another plane ride, to California, where you met more grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. You learned how to roll over, and started sleeping on your stomach.
Remember when you were 5 months old?

You started eating cereal and sitting in a high chair. You also learned how to sit by yourself and play with toys on the floor. You weighed 19 pounds! Your fat little legs are pretty much the best thing ever.
Remember when you were 6 months old?
Even when you are waking me up at 4 a.m. just to say hello, I am in love.
I love you.
I love you!

That made me cry. It was beautiful!
I think Theo and Lauren could be 4am Friends if we were in the same time zone. I have no idea what it is about 4am, but she wakes up every morning, screams like she's being murdered, and then is totally fine once I go in, give her a little hug and stick her bink in her mouth. It's the hour after that where I'm trying to fall asleep and can't that makes it not so fun.
Oh and we love you Baby Theo - and can't wait to see you next month!!
Is it ok if I never have kids and just live through you vicariously?
Made me cry a bit also. You are a really great writer.
I love the 1 month old picture in his peguin outfit. I hope I can see him again before starts walking! LOL!
I am so glad you had Theo and I hope I am as good a mom as you.
You are the best Mom ever. So smart to put all of your thoughts down in writing. Most Moms have all these things in their heads but never take the time to put them down. I would love to meet Theo when you come to California.
This is just too sweet!!!
oh Lizer,
Your English degree really paid off - you capture emotions so well into words. I think children are as good (or bad) as our attitude is toward them. You take all his little nuances so well and smile along the way. He seems to be such a happy little guy because of it.
Yes, Sarah Maren, sometimes things get old too. My daughter does the same thing and she's 2. It seems she wakes up just so I can go in for 2 seconds to say "it's ok" and pop her binkie in. Break it now while you can!
Thank you all. Theo is a sweet, sweet baby and it is easy for me to get sentimental about him. The best part of this post was that pretty soon after I posted it, he woke up early from his nap and was being a TERROR and I thought to myself, "Remember? You make yourself cry about how sweet he is. So don't get so frustrated." (Because it is easy to get frustrated with a cranky baby who wakes up early from his nap.)
He's still a sweet, sweet baby.
And Pam, yes, I will bring him to your house the next time I come to CA! In fact I will be there for a couple of days in August, a fact I have not shared with Katie yet...or anyone except a couple of my family members. So here's the announcement: I'll be in CA for about 2 days. A day and a half, really. I'll be in touch with Katie about a visit. You will love Theo, I just know it.
