No More Champagne

Happy bloggerversary to me--that's 5 years, my blogging friends. Technically it's not for a few more weeks but I doubt I'll remember to commemorate the occasion then.

I was telling Matt I thought I should do a New Year's post of sorts but that I didn't really do anything very exciting in 2006 to reflect upon. He said, "Oh you mean besides graduate, move across the country, and grow a baby?"

"Yes, besides those things," said I.

So I skimmed through old blogs to try to remember what I did and where I went.

Other than growing a child, which is no contest for the most important and exciting thing I've done, I

* ran a half-marathon in Moab,
* rocked out to David Gray (favorite concert ever!)
as well as to Guster (6th time seeing them...it's gone downhill)
and to Belle and Sebastian (The Shins opened and I am never seeing them in concert again, 2 strikes and you're out fellas),
* traveled to Seattle three times--the third time to graduate from that UW--
* watched Matt graduate from law school (or as my niece Morgan writes it, "los school"),
* slogged through morning sickness,
* got to sport my rockin' skates for a short time,
* quit my old job and started a new one,
* and also I moved across the country with my best, best husband of three years.

And then we moved again, across a river to a new state. And we bought a lot of furniture. And I gained a lot of pounds (suffice it to say that the number skyrocketed in December). And I read a lot of books and watched a lot of TV shows on DVD. And I completely abandoned running, although I plan to take it up again in the next few months.

For me, the second half of 2006 was markedly different from the first half, for a number of reasons, including but not limited to my pregnancy and our graduations and move. A shift occurred of sorts, and I really feel almost like a different person from the one I was in the first few months of last year. I can't really explain it, even to myself, but it deserves a mention.

Anyway, there's still a few more hours to go, but I think I'm going to have to say that 2006 will not include the birth of the child I mentioned earlier.

But it will happen sometime in January--unless of course I'm doomed to be pregnant forever, the chances of which, I'm assured, are slim to none.

I promise I'll let you know, either way.

Happy New Year! I wish the very best to all of you in 2007! and remind you to be safe and also to be sure to crank some ABBA when midnight comes, if it's at all possible.

Party time!

There are people who go into labor and deliver 20 minutes later - I've heard of them - never met one however.

But anyway, what a lovely post it will be next year to say, "Well, we had a baby!"

And your other accomplishments are certainly admirable and noteworthy.

And your blog is one of the ones I check daily.

Just so you know, I was at the store and saw a card for BABIES and bought it. So whenever you have one, I am ready to send you a card!
