A Simple Seed

So, now at the halfway mark, my clothes totally don't fit, although you still can't really "tell" with most things I wear. Long tanks are saving me, as well as one pair of super-low-rise pants that I never used to wear until the past few weeks because they're so insanely low. Now, low is good. Still no maternity clothes though--who knows how long that will last.

My favorite thing is during the past week or two, especially while spending so much time sitting in the car, I have started feeling movement. I wish Matt could feel it too, because I just love it. It's very reassuring, first of all, and it's also just cool. If it's been an hour or two since I noticed it, then it always takes me by surprise and I get a little sentimental about the whole thing. It keeps me from worrying about delivering, which is my current big research project (where to do so and with which doctor . . . oh yeah, and how to pay for it), along with the whole job thing. One worry at a time, please!

"Tita thought of the many times she had germinated kernels or seeds of rice, beans, or alfalfa, without giving any thought to how it felt for them to grow and change form so radically.

"Now she admired the way they opened their skin and allowed the water to penetrate them fully, until they were split asunder to make way for new life.

"She imagined the pride they felt as the tip of the first root emerged from inside of them, the humility with which they accepted the loss of their previous form, the bravery with which they showed the world their new leaves.

"Tita would love to be a simple seed."

feeling the baby move is one of my fave things too.

andi LOVE a midwife's story - it should be required reading for all pregnant couples.

Isn't it great how words can so eloquently capture a thought?!

When will be seeing pictures of your "progress"?

Did you make the move okay? Sorry we haven't called, but I have misplaced your phone #. We would really like to have you for dinner one day or help you with anything you might need.

Kirsten, I still have your number. We're here and still getting settled, but I'll definitely give you a call sometime soon. Hester's planning a get-together for Labor Day weekend--Felipe and Axel will be here too--maybe she told you guys about it already?

Anyway, I will call you!

I am emailing my roommate right now to find out who her doctor is.
Glad you are doing well.
