It rained all day, so I decided to make a rainy-day mix, which turned into sort of a long list--embarrassingly long. I am a mix freak, okay. Here's what I have so far:
1. Here's That Rainy Day - Stan Getz
Saxy.
2. Why Does It Always Rain on Me? - Travis
"Is it because I lied when I was seventeen?"
3. November Rain - Guns 'n' Roses
GNR, MAN! As long as he had the bandanna on, and I couldn't see his teeth, I always thought Axl Rose was kinda cute. I told Matt that and he gagged.
4. The Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down - Winnie the Pooh & the Blustery Day
Hundred-Acre Wood, flooded. I love this one.
5. Little April Showers - Bambi
Not sure how Disney keeps creeping onto my list.
6. Covered in Rain - John Mayer
"And I'm co-VER-ed in rain"
7. January Rain - David Gray
Instrumental; sounds kinda rainy.
8. Rainy Day - Guster
Possibly my very least favorite Guster song, but fitting.
9. Purple Rain - Prince
"Purple rain, PURPLE RAIN." For some reason I just really, really like this song.
10. MLK - U2
"So let it rai-ain...let it rai-ain."
11. Ironic - Alanis Morissette
Slightly irrelevant...yet..."IT'S LIKE RAI-EE-AIN"
12. The Thunder Rolls - Garth Brooks
"And the lightning strikes." Also not about rain, so much, but a GB classic.
13. Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head - Ben Folds Five
"Did me some talkin' to the sun. I said I didn't like the way he got things done, sleepin' on the job."
14. She's My Kind of Rain - Tim McGraw
Eh, why not.
15. Still Rainin' - Jonny Lang
I do like me some Jonny Lang now and then.
16. The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly) - Missy Elliott
"I can't stand the RAIN!"
17. Fool in the Rain - Led Zeppelin
From the only "Led Zep" album I've ever listened to at any length, thanks in part to my husband and in part to a long-ago blog of Kacy's. I'm partially converted.
18. Have You Ever Seen the Rain? - Creedence Clearwater Revival
I LOVE this song. I just really love it. "Shinin' down like water."
19. Walking in the Rain - The Party
If you know this song, we are kindred spirits.
That's all I got.
Suggestions encouraged.
(I know you have something better to offer me than "Kiss the Rain" by...whoever.)
I just thought of that song from Fern Gully about acid rain...something about it coming down like "egg chow mein." Anyone remember that one? You might if you were born in the '80s. Anyone? Bueller?

Gross...I just found the lyrics to the Fern Gully song. Who writes songs like that for a movie marketed to kids?
Environmental Propogandists. Precisely the reason I would not let Falyn see it.
Who'll Stop the Rain- CCR
Red Rain- Peter Gabriel
I actually thought of one! Well, McKay is into Lizzy McGuire and Hilary Duff. It's "Come Clean" and the lyrics go "let the rain fall....." It's one of McKay's favorites.
-Amy
It's Billie Meyers. You should know that.
And where can I get a copy of that song by The Party?!
Back in the days of Napster and Audiogalaxy, Noah was able to get me "Summer Vacation" by the Partay. (Which was promptly deleted when Mom and Dad wiped their computer clean. Ah well.) However, I am unaware of anywhere to DL Party songs at the moment.
I checked Amazon once for I Found Love and there were some Party CDs on sale for way too much. I'm thinking our best bet is the $1.99 bin at Wherehouse. That's where I got Hangin' Tough a few years ago. I've picked up other gems there as well (Sun 60 comes to mind).
Hey.
A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall - Bob Dylan.
Don't know why I didn't think of that earlier.
It never rains in Southern California.
that's always a gem.
Have you tried allofmymp3.com?
I thought of another one. "My Favorite Things." Sung during a thunderstorm; that should count.
I've never been to allofmymp3.com. Thanks for the tip.
ELIZA!! "Raindrops keep fallin' on my head" is NOT a BEN FOLDS FIVE song! I should know, I sang it in my third grade school program. It's BJ Thomas. I mean, maybe eventually it was a Ben Folds Five song, but in a hypothetical list the original artist ought to be given credit, I think.
Well, duh. But I like the BFF version. BJ Thomas, no offense, would not be on my rainy-day mix. Ben would.
Just wanted to make sure you knew that I knew that BFF weren't the original performers.
But, I like em anyway!
