The Daffodils Are Smiling at the Doves
Had another fun weekend in the So-Cal. Besides glimpsing a jolly, laughing, white-sweatpanted Dick Van Dyke at Ralphs in Malibu; careening through veritable galaxies at Space Mountain; almost fainting on a mountainside in Santa Monica; seeing ghosts from the past at the Long Beach airport; eating hot dogs and Cheetos 3 out of 4 days (definitely NOT my normal diet); and going through almost an entire bottle of sunscreen, I did many exciting things. If you'd like details or pictures you can check out Hannah's blog or my family's blog, since I hate to be redundant.
I loved seeing my family. Every time I turn around, my nieces and nephews are older and taller! Plus I have the Aunt License to laugh deliriously at some of the things that come out of the younger ones' mouths; for example...
- Me: "Hey Esmé, When I’m with you, baby, I go out of my head."
Esmé: "I just can’t get enough. I just can’t get enough."
- Me: "Hey Esmé, what's cooler than being cool?"
Esmé: "Ice pack!"
I guess that's only funny if you like Depeche Mode, or OutKast, or three-year-olds singing pop songs--or maybe you just had to be there. And be me. But whatever. Viva la summer vacation!
Music: Goods - Mates of State (click to listen)
Love: It's almost August! As much as I love summer, I'm loving the back-to-school vibe too.

Since no one was home on Monday, I wonder why the line was busy all day? Or maybe it was off the hook! You can come and see me Katie - I can show you pictures!! (ha, ha!!)
I'm so sad I didn't see you, Katie! That is weird that the phone was busy. Maybe Harry was there or something! haha. How weird. This weekend was so jam-packed, I don't think my family has ever been so active in such a short time before. haha.
The ghosts from the past weren't that exciting, haha. The flight attendant on our flight recognized me from Clifton--that was weird! Her name is Megan Atkinson. I vaguely remembered her once she told me her name, but I never would have recognized her otherwise. Also, I ran into Brittany, this girl I knew when I was little, whom I haven't seen in about 10 years. She recognized me, too, but I didn't recognize her until she told me her name. What's with that? Usually I'm the one who remembers people. Not this time, I guess.
P.S. Katie, you should really come visit! Alex is coming next month. Well, only for like a night, but it's still exciting for me. I love visitors.
And maybe my mom and Phoebe will come next month too. Here's hopin'!
