I Can Still Recall Our Last Summer
I still see it all...
haha. Well, Memorial Day is fast approaching, and so begins my first full-fledged summer in Utah--ever. I think it's funny that I've lived here for almost 5 years but always spent the summer somewhere else.
Besides being my mom’s birthday today (Happy Birthday, Mom!), it also marks a year since Matt and I packed up and moved out on a road trip extravaganza.
Now that was fun. I wonder how we spent so much time together without fighting like siblings...of course when I look back over my journal I realize there was plenty of fighting involved. But all in good fun. I wonder how many hours we spent in that car last summer? No idea. Hundreds.
Yes, it was very fun. And muggy. And expensive. And now I guess I’ll have my first real grown-up summer. Hooray for paid vacation leave! Not that I have very much. But it's better than nothing...
Well, everybody knows it hurts to grow up. But I like the phase of grown-up that I'm in now--sure, I have to have a "real job," which isn't quite as fun as college, but I also don't have a mortgage or kids yet. So I'm still capable of going into "extravaganza" mode. In fact, if we save our pennies, this fall Matt and I are going on a Europe extravaganza. Mostly to visit Phil & Lynnette (his parents in Switzerland), but also just to have fun. (I figure the more I spread this news around, the more motivated I'll be to save money so that we can actually do it.)
Maybe then I'll get my own taste of Paris restaurants and morning croissants.
You really just have to love ABBA to appreciate these references.

yeah!!! the whole europe thing sounds fun. you'll have to swing on over to ol' kiev and see my folks. I want to make a trip like that next summer, hopefully i'll be able to save some pennies by then too.
I wish I could take like a month off and just travel. Okay, 2 or 3 months would be good too. I think we're sticking to Western Europe since that's where Switzerland is, plus I've never been further west than Venice. I'd like to go to Kiev, though. Matt's been there before, maybe we'll go sometime, although I don't know if your parents will still be there by the time we actually do it!
