Matt gave me Guero. It’s Becktastic, and really so much more fun than Sea Change. I love that Beck’s voice always sounds like he’s lounging on a couch with his eyes half-closed while he sings. Same reason I like Snoop Dogg so much.
As Hannah mentioned, lots of fun new albums are coming out. Ben Folds. (Love Ben.) Weezer. (Love Rivers. Although I don’t love the first single on this one, “Beverly Hills.” It’ll grow on me, perhaps.) Coldplay sometime soon. (Love Chris.) Guster, apparently sometime this year. (Love Brian--okay, and Adam and Ryan too. And Joe.) And I’ve been hearing rumors, filtered through Matt, about Fiona Apple’s record label finally giving in and releasing her record that’s like 2 years old. We shall see.
I’m becoming a bigger fan of the name Fiona. My mom wanted to name a daughter Fiona but never got her way; I always kinda made fun of it. But I’m liking it more these days.

I love snoop dog, too..he is cool, fo shizzle.
Rivers is REALLY cute in the Beverly Hills video though (even though it has Hugh Hefner gag)...you can see it on weezer.com if you haven't yet.
You need to tell me everything about Guero because I love Beck and I want to get it. I saw Beck in concert and it was unforgettable. He descended from the ceiling on a purple bed, much like Prince.
Que onda! I love that album. I love "Girl" the most... and "Que Onda" is the catchiest. "Hell Yes" is a little annoying, and it offends my roommates.
And I would LOVE to see Beck live.
I have seen the Weezer vid—and despite the Hefness it is kinda cute. I do like Rivers’s smashing guitar solos in the song. I never met a Weezer song I didn’t like eventually (well, okay, “Slave” still hasn’t *quite* won me over). It’s just that “Beverly Hills” gets in my head—more in an irritating way than a catchy way.
Guero is pretty much exactly like Odelay. Okay not exactly, but similar. I still like Mutations the best.
I like “Girl” too except the lyrics are freaky! What is he, abducting the girl? My fave is definitely “Earthquake Weather” but I also like “Que Onda Guero” and “E-Pro.” And…all of them.
Ditto on the loving to see Beck in concert. Matt and I were discussing yesterday how our top concert priorities are Beck and Radiohead (haven’t been to either). I also want to see Coldplay (also haven’t been), but wouldn’t B & R be mind-trippingly fun? Plus Beck is just so dang hip. I would love to be that hip. Matt and I were also debating whether or not Beck does/did drugs. “The vegetable man in the vegetable van…” Sounds a little like trippy Beatles lyrics to me.
Addendum: I love Prince.
