Weird

Some say the word “weird” is overused, but seeing as this isn't a paper to be turned in, I won't worry about it. Our power went out yesterday, but only parts of it. Nothing works on the main floor except the refrigerator and the outlets next to it, and upstairs only the wall outlets work. This morning I had to get dressed using a flashlight. I felt a little like a cat burglar deciding which clothes to steal. I chose a white cable-knit sweater and a gray wool skirt, which aren’t very exciting things to steal. A real burglar would have gone for my Jimmy Choos.

I’ve always felt very weird showering with the power out. It’s that same burglarish feeling, as though I don’t want anybody to know that I’m in there.

Last night was weird too. We couldn’t cook (darn electric stove), so we went to Applebee’s and I got alfredo. Alfredo is always a bad idea, but I fall for it every time! (Note to self: Applebee’s isn’t the best idea either.) Also, in the frenzy of power outage I forgot all about The O.C. Blast! (We have an upstairs TV, so it would have been possible to view it.) I did remember my visiting teaching though, and it’s like I always say: better to remember one’s visiting teaching and forget The O.C. than the other way around. Gold star for me.

“You…always say that?”—what movie?

I’m starting to think, really, that maybe I don’t like The O.C. as much as I thought I did. I’ve forgotten to watch it every week for like a month now. I’m thinking that’s a good thing.

Speaking of T.V. and weird, Law & Order ended weirdly on Wednesday. They fired Bad Actess McGee, finally. (The blond lawyer who’s Jack’s assistant or partner or whatever, who generally delivers her lines as though the person she’s talking to is deaf.) The final line of the episode, right after she’s fired: “Is this because I’m a lesbian?” [pause] “No. No, of course not.” [pause] “Good…good.” Hm…I’m thinking the writers of this show are slacking off a little in the cliffhanger department.

Our neighbor Brian the Electrician is coming over today to take a look at the lighting situation. I hope he figures it out, because I don’t like feeling like a burglar. Plus it’s annoying to try to close the garage door by hand after you back out of the garage. And it’s not like I’m going to park in the driveway. P’shaw.

Something else weird: the computer in the office next to me keeps making this error noise that sounds exactly like the first note of “Da Doo Ron Ron” by Shawn Cassidy. Also weird that I made that connection so easily.

Our power went out Tuesday night when the sister missionaries were here having the meeting with your dad. So Noah ransacked the Christmas decorations looking for candles - which are in the cupboard in the laundry room - have been there for many years! Guess Noah hasn't been worried about lighting candles before when we had power outages. I was at my class at APU and nothing happened there, so I missed all the excitement. But I got to put the Christmas stuff back in order!

Well, I don't so much have Jimmy Choos. Or anything worth stealing, really.

Bummer, Nicole, I was hoping to get the O.C. update from you. Ah well...at least I remembered to tape Alias this week (unlike last week). I'm thinking it's taking too much effort to try to make my life revolve around T.V. It just doesn't work.

Doesn't anybody have any guesses for the guess-the-movie? Okay, well I'll tell you: Little Mermaid.

Sebastian: It's like I always say, Your Majesty...(bla bla bla)
Triton: You...always say that?
