I just ate an entire apple.
I don't think I've ever done that. I can never finish entire apples. I generally don't like the texture and they don't fill me up, so it seems like a general waste of time. But...there's this stocked fridge thing at my work, right? Which is stocked with such carb mainstays as bagels, English muffins, and a variety of fresh fruits, fruit juices, and sodas. There is also a deluxe coffee machine that features about 10 different kinds of hot drinks, including hot chocolate, and there is a "whip your beverage" option. All very exciting for a poor girl like me who likes to "graze" anyway, and accepts most free food. But, seeing as sitting at a desk from 8-5 isn't the best way to burn off carbs, I've resolved to try to stay away from the cream cheese bagels and hot chocolate and Dr. Pepper, and I'm getting tired of nectarines and plums, and I already ate a banana this morning, and I'm not feeling brave enough for cherries (I've never actually eaten a cherry - they look weird to me) so today I moved on to apples. One perfectly ripe Fuji apple, to be exact, and I'm feeling pretty good about the whole thing.
I'm really not a weirdo. But eating an apple to me always seemed more like something to do rather than a means to calm hunger pangs. Then again, that's a great argument for the apple as a healthy option for the boredom-induced snack. Which is what I need at work. When I'm not blogging and writing thank-you notes.
Which is why I ate the entire apple. Well, it's why I chose the apple. I ate the apple without really knowing it or thinking about it. One minute I was sitting here, staring into space with an entire apple in my hand, and then in no time at all I was holding an apple core and the clock showed 7 minutes had passed. I could be on to something here. Eight apples, for instance and a whole HOUR could be gone, like that! Then again my metabolism would get all speedy and my body would get confused, so maybe I shouldn't do that.
I think I'm going to walk laps around my desk now.

I feel like we lead the same life except you're in D.C. and I'm in Sac, and you're married and I'm confused by boys... okay... so maybe all we have in common is being bored at work, but you know... it's a starting point. :)
