I don’t have a picture of my Primary presidency, which is a shame! Must do that sometime... This is a picture that Polly took one Sunday while waiting for me to finish cleaning up. Ha!
Anyway I hit the jackpot with my counselors and secretary and music leader. And the bishopric counselor over Primary too, actually. And the primary teachers and nursery leaders and activities and scouts leaders who are just fantastic people. And my Sunday assistant, whom I haven’t quite thought of a title for, she’s listed as a “Primary Worker” but is not a member of the presidency or a teacher, and she is my right-hand woman at church. She just cheerfully fills in wherever she’s needed each Sunday. (I would love to have her calling, actually...)
I feel so lucky and blessed to work with them. When I got this calling the stake primary president gave me this advice: leave it all on the field. A year later I will say that I have in fact taken that approach. I have given all of my energy and heart to the Primary this past year. Is this sustainable forever, no. But I figure I have one, maybe two more years of this level of involvement and then I can throw myself into something a little easier. And actually it has gotten easier, such that I don’t have to spend quite so much time because I’m not figuring out “institutional knowledge.” You know?
Anyway, I guess what I am trying to say is that I feel like I can “leave it all on the field” only because of the support of so many wonderful people who make it so that I don’t have to answer every question or solve every problem or make every plan, because they are there too and they are creative and observant and bring their own talents to the table.
Most of all I feel inspired from this experience to heartily offer myself and my time wherever I am needed at church in the future.
Anyway. I’m glad to know these people and I am very thankful for them.

Some of the most wonderful people I have known are the people I have worked with at church.
