Thanks for traditions.

I hadn't realized how much I blogged on my phone until... I couldn't blog on my phone anymore. I blame the non-functional Blogger app for my inconsistent thanks-blogging.

Today I'm thankful for traditions. As I have mentioned to anyone who would listen, today was the first time in 10 years that we haven't hosted Thanksgiving at our house, and only the second time in the same amount of years that we haven't had Hannah and Robbie with us. (And actually even before we moved to Virginia, I think we always had Thanksgiving with Hannah in Utah as well.) But we still gathered with loved ones (these were friends instead of family, but we love them) and ate turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, rolls, and a TON of pie. And a few vegetables made it in there too somehow.

I only eat that stuff once a year, and I wouldn't really want it more than once a year, but every year it tastes so good. I can't think of anything cozier than sitting together around a table, talking, watching kids run in and out of the room, and eating as much delicious starchy food as we possibly can.

Tomorrow... after we clean up all the pots and pans I left in the sink and on the counters... we'll get out the Christmas decorations. I love traditions.

The Thanksgiving traditions in our lives have changed around - for a few years there, we were always with you in VA - it was good to be with Harry and Dawn and Bonny and Bruce and their families - and Bryan Lee!! I'm excited for Christmas decor too!!

I love traditions too but I also love being non-traditional, last minute trip out of town or eating chicken instead of turkey (gasp-the horror!)
