I couldn't devote a blog post to each of my wonderful aunts because I have approximately... 13 of them? Does that sound right, Mom??? #bigfamilyproblems Anywho, today's post is for my aunt Donna, my mom's younger sister, whose birthday is today. I love her so much. She was such a wonderful caregiver to her dad and mom, my grandparents Bob and Mary, both of whom have now passed away. She works so hard at so many other things as well, maybe the most notable of which in the past couple of decades have been graduating from college, showering love on her dozens of nieces and nephews and siblings and in-laws, and most recently, diligently and scrupulously taking care of the many many details and logistics that come with a house, an estate, a life, and a death. We live on opposite ends of the country and I don't see her as often as I'd like, but she's always a text or phone call away.
Something that might sum up the wonderfulness that is Donna, is that she texted me a day or two after the election to see how I was doing and to talk a little politics. Which naturally turned into a long conversation about random day-to-day stuff. (Side note, I sure wish I could talk with my grandma about this election and its aftermath. Boy howdy! I'm sure Donna wishes the same thing. I bet we all do.) In that same conversation she even helped me solve a problem I was having with Primary, by reminding me that my dad, who speaks Spanish, was coming to visit the following day, and he could help me translate a conversation with a parent. Duh, how was it that I didn't think of that on my own?? Donna cares so much about the people in her life. I'm better because of her.
