ahhhhhhhhhhhh

Last year at this time we were in South Florida, wearing shorts and swimsuits, walking down the boardwalk and swimming in the ocean. Either that or we were taking naps in our airy hotel suite (sunshine and ocean view temporarily obscured by blackout curtains).

Sigh.

That was a fun time in my memory regardless of the trip, actually. Theo had just moved out of his crib to a twin bed and was bursting with big-boy pride. Ida slept ALL NIGHT for the first time ever (YES!) and was at a perfectly portable age. She smiled at everyone and napped every afternoon on the beach in her new stroller. Only a year ago and I am completely overcome with nostalgia about it. Typical.

Re-reading the recap here just now reminded me of how awesome it really was. That was our first real family vacation and it was the most relaxed and happiest vacation I can remember taking. And it was definitely a classic family vacation...certainly classic Terrill, since we spent all of our time either in our hotel (nights) or at the beach (days). But I couldn't have been happier about that. I love hotels--especially hotel TV--and I LOVE swimming in the ocean. All the Clean House marathons and beach time I can handle? Naps every day, no computers and no phones? And people-watching at Sweet Tomatoes?! Bring it on!

Very unfortunately we will not be going back to Florida this year but I'm aiming for spring 2011. Mark my words, Florida! I will be back!

Hmm - I could go for a vacation like that - I'd even take Oxnard!!

Oxnard might be a little chilly this time of year (at least the water would be). But still warmer than here!

I don't feel that sorry for anyone with an international adventure on the docket. :P Though this time last year I was on a beach in Panama, so I do emphathize.
