Yet another bonus post: Happy Birthday, Baby

You're so lucky to get 2 bonus birthday posts in one weekend!

Theo's baby sister was born today at 12:35 p.m.--on her due date! 7 lbs 5 oz (actually we are still trying to decide whether it was 3 oz or 5 oz...got mixed messages) and 20 inches long. She has brown hair and her eyes are a lovely shade of newborn gray. I labored for 12 hours, mostly at home, and ended at the hospital with a drug-free VBAC. BIG thanks to Matt, my doula Brenda, my awesome OB Dr. Tchabo...oh and Baby Girl for being tiny.

I have to say I do not feel amazing at the moment but it was pretty amazing to push her out.

No name yet. We were unprepared.

Seriously, we were not expecting her to come on time. Matt was trying to pack my bag at 5 a.m. with very minimal instructions from me--it wasn't like I cared at the time. Hester (who was a doll and watched Theo all day and is watching him tomorrow too) had to bring us my purse since we forgot my ID and insurance card.

We'll update on her name once we pick one!

Ahhhhh!!! Congratulations Eliza! That is so wonderful that you were able to do VBAC and so insane that you did it without drugs!

She looks beautiful in her little hospital hat and trendy identification bracelets. :)

It is rare to have a baby on the actual due date- so a super big fat congrats on that one too!

Can't wait to hear the name, good luck with that decision. I always think that's the hardest part.

Love,
Alison

Nice work, momma! Drug free. Wow. Just wow. You must be part super hero. She's adorable, and you look too good for just pushing out a baby drug free. Hate you for that.

She, and you look so beautiful. I kept talking to Aaron after I hung up with you saying things like, "how is a drug free birth even possible??" and, "can you believe she did it without drugs???" I can't wait to see her in person. Remember, just make the call I am there to do whatever..clean bathrooms, watch Theo, make dinner, etc.

Robbie and I are laughing because we thought that the text said 12:35 am (the text that we got at like 12:30 pm today), and we were like, "WHY didn't they call us then???"

It makes much more sense now.

ConGRATS.

Congratulations. Wish that we were in DC and could see the new little one. As it is, I am in SLC getting a root canal. Would much prefer to see the baby. I had one on time, one a day early, one a week early and the rest were 10 days late. They come when they will. I had 7 without drugs and I really prefer it that way. A lot of work (and pain) in the beginning but such a great feeling afterwards. Glad it was good for you.

You're so funny! My bag was packed, hoping I'd go in 2 weeks earlier (maybe I'm the funny one)!! A due date baby! Hurrah for you guys! Thank you for posting. So thoughtful. She looks SO much like Theo, I think. Her mouth and nose anyway. Her knees and elbows do too, now that I look at them ;) You're so strong! Such a great mother. Good work.
How long did you push?

You have a daughter. Couldn't be happier for you. I was so shocked when I got Matt's text that you had the baby already especially after talking to you yesterday. I thought you would be pregnant for another week.

Congrats! Wish I was there to hold her. Can't wait to meet her though.

Take it easy. Lots of love to the Selander family.

You deserve a medal for being drug-free and you look like you just came back from church or something, not like someone who just had birth! Darn you and people like you who always look good! And congratulations!
