Overall

Speaking of the Sartster, does this mean that I should dust off my old overalls? I am just wondering because I still have them in a box in my closet.

I do see people wearing overalls but I am just saying that I don't normally see people wearing overalls featured on fashion blogs.

Although T is a doll in overalls and I regularly dress him in them, I have never felt very cute in overalls myself even when they were "in." It was always hard to find ones that fit right. Now when I see them around in stores they are more of the "skinny overall" look although that seems uncomfortable to me. Anyway maybe mine should just stay in the box.

So, check one. Overalls:

_due for a comeback
_not in this lifetime
_what are you talking about, I never took mine off.

For the record my vote is "due for a comeback along with chunky Mary Janes, chokers, and velvet." The Reality Bites look is easing back in and before we know it it will be all about the Rachel haircut again. Listen to me, I totally know what I am talking about.

I saw a picture of my friend Alison wearing overalls a couple weeks ago. They might have even been shortalls. (Is that what they're called?) I don't know, maybe it never went out of style.

The only time I ever enjoyed wearing overalls was when I was pregnant - and maternity overalls were all the rage then - they were quite comfy - and when you are pregnant, comfy is what it's all about.

But fashion is all about recycling, so they will undoubtedly make a "comeback" - if they ever really left.

Hmmm. Only baggy ones will make a comeback for me. They have to be comfortable or else it's just not worth having buckles so close to my neck.

Charlie has a dozen or so pairs of overalls. He wears them to work, with a woven (weaved?) hat. I hear banjo music whenever I see him in them.

And for the record, I've been doing hair for 12 years now. And the "Rachel" has been a classic this entire time! Maybe that says a little too much about working at a small salon in Utah.

True I have seen various versions of the Rachel since the original, but it seems that now it's less round-brushed and more straight and piecey.

I think that fitted overalls, maybe cropped like to the knee and a darker wash or different color, are totally cute. I think I am too short for them but they look good on long-legged folks. I just haven't seen many of the baggy variety in the past--oh, 4 or 5 years. Granted they ARE comfortable and probably great for maternity wear.

I remember wearing them as a freshman in high school and thinking to myself, is this really what's fashionable? These things that make me look real hippy and flat chested?

i am not a fan of overalls either - i think the sart gal is beautiful - but so out of place on those stone steps-in paris.

wow, this blog really got people worked up. Just for the record Stacey from "what not to wear" said it's a BIG fashion no no.

Now I sort of want to get the overalls out and wear them one day, just to see what happens.

I am thinking nothing will happen.
