You probably know that I am a librarian. I work in an actual library. And yet... I haven’t been super great about taking my kids to the public library in recent years.
I did when they were little. We went almost every week. We brought home stacks of books (for me to pay stacks of late fees on as they inevitably got lost or I forgot to turn them in). Then as the kids got older and life filled up with other things... school, sports, church activities... well... it wasn’t a priority.
But then we got this pandemic thing, and the library was completely closed for a few months. After it reopened this summer, visiting the library became a priority again. My kids don’t get out much these days (like... at all. They play in the neighborhood and go to school online. That’s literally it). Now they basically beg to go to the library, just for some variety. So once again, we find ourselves at the library every week. We’re often the only ones there. They each come home with a tote bag chock full of books. It’s nice. I didn’t realize how much I had missed it.
Nothing quite like a library!!
