Sometimes I just need a somewhat trivial, challenging-yet-doable goal for the week. It helps me separate the pandemic weeks (when every week bleeds into the next) and it helps me have something to look forward to.
This week my goal is to hit 10,000 steps every day. I'm on day 2. I was inspired because I noticed on Saturday night that I had hit around 1,300 steps that day. FOR SHAME! So then on Sunday I successfully got to 10,000, although I wasn't sure if I would. Now it's Monday, and today so far I've gotten to 8,907. I can get another thousand steps in, right? I'll just finish putting away the laundry and that should do it...
Anyway. I can't do the same goal every week, because I get obsessive and burn out, although increasing my steps per day should probably become a lifelong goal. I mean even 3,000 would be better than what I've been averaging. Maybe 5,000 by noon is a realistic (yet challenging) baseline, and anything after that is a bonus.
Realistically, I'll probably finish my 10,000 per day goal after this week, and then maybe go to the 5,000 by noon goal the following week, and THEN burn out. That gives me 2 more weeks to come up with something new.
I'm shooting for a "streak" that is, walking every day. So far I'm on day 9!
