Friday, Friday

Just bloggin' agin. Third day in a row. NBD.

I'm having a bit of a tough time adjusting to the east coast clock. Could it possibly be the morning nap I've taken every day since we got back? I don't know, maybe.

I spent way too much $$ at the grocery store today trying to buy Good Food Only. In other words, mostly fresh and mostly minimally processed and even some of them thar brown eggs. This is my experiment with eating better, and if we eat all of it then I will know we can do it. Although I am going to have to figure out how to do it with less cash. Probably that will involve fewer of the brown eggs, jeepers those are pricey at supermarkets. And our HOA doesn't allow chickens. Also, my unwillingness to care for any living thing other than my family, doesn't allow chickens.

The kids and I all have colds. It has been months and months since any of us had colds, so I can't blame the processed foods and white eggs, so I am blaming the airplane. Darn you, airplane. DARN YOU! I should probably take some of that disgusting fizzy drink stuff that cures colds (Airborne). It totally worked the few times I've used it.

Also at the grocery store I picked up some Fish Oil. I have dreaded the day that I would finally start taking those huge globby Fish Oil pills. I knew I would someday, like when I started caring about my heart and brain health, since although I am way more open to fish than I used to be, Matt had an unfortunate experience with salmon a few years ago and pretty much can't stand the sight of it. But anyway I have been pondering and reading about alternatives to medication for treating anxiety and depression. My doctor gave me the go-ahead, and so sometime soonish I am going to go the Fish Oil and Exercise route. According to a few studies which were probably very small, both DHA/EPA (found in fish oil) and daily exercise were as effective as sertraline for treating both minor and major depression. So--why not? Why not.

My house is a disaster. Hmmm, I wonder if I did a search in all my old posts for that very phrase, how many times it would come up? But I am slowly (SLOWLY!) getting there. Just a little Freddie Mercury reference aimed at Hannah, who loves her some Freddie.

Matt and I have a few more things to do in the kitchen and then I will post pictures for all to enjoy. Also I have some things in mind for our basement office, which doubles as a guest room and is so cozy. Psych! It's like sleeping in someone's basement office. We slept in here during the power outage and I was all, "It sucks to sleep in here, I'm getting this room's act together." and Matt was all, "Whatever" and I was all "You'll see" and he was all "Whatever." Anyway, I guess I'd better go back upstairs so I can snack on some delicious produce.

Finally, a photo.

What is with the pictures Matt takes of me?

  1. So, I exercise ALLLLL the time, or at least I did when I wasn't pregnant, and it was important that I did, but either way at the middle of the day and on I'd still be depressed. I read a study that the helps of it kind of run out once your body gets used to it. My things I have to do are exercise, read the scriptures, and get enough sleep and if I control that then it's not bad, but I'm no where without my meds. Even though the pill only helps so much too.

And I love that last picture of you!
