A thought or two, for you.
Just a picture. Maybe you'll get a Christmas card with this picture on it. I still haven't sent most of Lars's birth announcements so, don't hold your breath. (yikes)(I'm rude.) Do you like Matt's shorts? I didn't intend for this to be "the Christmas card picture"--we were at the arboretum with Hannah and Robbie and I needed to send a recent family picture to a friend for a church thing. But it turns out we haven't taken another one. We have this, and the one from the hospital when Lars was born. Yet despite the lack of photographic evidence, we do hang out together a lot.
Onward. How much am I loving C Jane's freebirth?? (also known as unassisted birth or UB, but I prefer the Lynyrd Skynyrd-esque title of Freebirth) Bold, lady. Bold. Bold to do it and bold to blog about it. For the record I would never ever do that. I just wouldn't. There's enough that could go wrong in a birth, even a natural birth, that I wouldn't entertain the idea at all. I would absolutely do a home birth with a midwife under the right circumstances, though. Regardless of what I would or wouldn't do--I think everyone has a right to do their own stuff with their own families as long as no one is getting hurt. And I just think it's great that she did her thing and blogged about it. She kind of got a little evangelical at the end but, again. Do what you gotta do. That goes for you too. Yeah, you. And you.
Since getting a smart phone I (a) have some serious carpal tunnel and (b) hardly ever come on to the desktop computer. I use my phone to check e-mail and occasionally post on Facebook. Maybe read whatever someone links to from Facebook or Twitter, while I'm doing whatever else like waiting at the doctor's office or watching my kids do gymnastics in the bath tub. So then when I do get on the computer it's like hours suck themselves away from me. Google Reader. Stop saving all these blogs for me to read. Sheesh.
They don't really do gymnastics in the bath tub.
Oh yeah, that's right. I'm on Twitter. Did you know? I have tweeted maybe a total of 4 times in the past 3 years. I follow my sister Hannah and Shaquille O'Neal. That's about all I need. My phone has this app (one of like 3 apps that it came with, and I haven't figured out how to download apps) where I get a combined Facebook and Twitter feed. So, I read tweets. From Hannah and Shaq.
Well, it's 11:30 and I still have chores to do. That kitchen isn't going to paint itself. Matt's getting home tonight from a business trip, but he's still on the plane so it's going to be a late one. I really shouldn't wait up for him. What is it about having him gone that makes me stay up until all hours?
And that, my friends, is the way I blog. At least that's the way I used to blog. I miss the days of completely random blogging, when I would blog several times in a day, then disappear for a while, then come back with things like lists of what I was eating or what people were doing next to me in the library. It was sort of like Facebook, only with only two readers, Nicole and Hannah. (So, almost like how I do Twitter.) Did you know that my bloggerversary is coming up? Other people say blogiversary, but I prefer bloggerversary. My friend Nicole started a blog when we were sophomores in college. Then Hannah started a blog. Then I did. That was ten years ago next month. That's right...ten years of blogging. Sheesh again. And, a much more important anniversary than the all-important bloggerversary is: right after I started my blog, I met and went on my first date with Matt, who just happens to be my eternal companion (of 8 years so far--that one is coming up in 3 weeks) and my favorite person on God's green earth.
Fun times. Ten years. One third of my life. One third of my life, filled to the brim with blogging and my favorite person in the world. Yep, it's good to be me. Lizer out.
That would be a perfectly lovely Christmas card photo.
ReplyDeleteSince this might be a year without a Christmas tree, I'm wondering if I should bag the cards too!!
I'd love to try out my new camera on some of my favorite people - if you're looking for more mug shots of the whole fam.
ReplyDeleteI like that the "You might also like:" includes a post titled "Two tickets to the gun show" - What a gem of a photo! How much are those tickets anyway?
I now officially feel lame. I am one of the last standing no-internet-flip-phoners and it's lonely.
I also stay up late when Eric is gone. I feel like it is the only opportunity I have to do what I want to do - so I do.
Last - Happy Bloggerversary. Hope your blog gives you something nice. Tee hee hee.
ten years?!?! that is so great. i'm kind of jealous but then thinking about what i would've blogged ten years ago when i was
ReplyDelete17, i guess i'm not jealous. it would have been really bad.
i think that's a perfectly great family picture and you should send it.
i have so many thoughts on cjane's freebirth. one part "that's awesome!" another part "are you kidding me? you're crazy!" another part "i want to try that!" and one part "but what if something had gone wrong!??"
