Uggs

This isn't the best picture...in any respect. Kind of weird soft lighting and not flattering of me or of Ida. But it is the only picture I have of the current S Family Favorite Thing: Ida's hugs.

Ida's love of hugs (aka "uggs") has developed over the past few months. She reaches her arms as far around my middle as they can reach and then squeezes. And her love of hugs has become infectious. Theo was never a big hugger but he asks for hugs all the time now. Not as often as Ida does, but still often. Also, I have never really been a big hugger either but I find myself asking for hugs more often too. Don't get me wrong, it's not all just one big hugfest around here but there are more hugs in my life now than there ever have been before.

I will do laundry and more laundry, and break up fights and endure tantrums and wake up at 5:45 a.m., and clean up vomit and wipe bums and scrub mac and cheese from the floor, if I can get Ida's hugs in return. I guess I don't actually have a choice about any of that other stuff, do I? But the hugs are a fabulous bonus. I hope I never forget this beautifully cuddly phase of Ida's life...and actually while we are hoping, I hope she (and Theo) will never stop giving me hugs.
