My kids love bananas. ("My kids love bananas! B-A-N-A-N-A-S!") "Banana" was Ida's first word. Actually the word "banana" is often the first word out of her mouth in the morning. (the only other words she knows being "Mama," "Ida," and "more.") She has been known to have 2 bananas at breakfast.
And don't get me started on Theo--his record is 6 bananas in one morning. I am sure I have blogged about that before. We were in California visiting family and I wasn't keeping track. I think in fact that 6 different people gave him bananas throughout the morning (at his request), no one realizing how many he had eaten until later.
Matt and I like bananas too. Matt usually takes one to work, and I often have one at breakfast and another one later in the day in a smoothie that I share with the kids, then there's Theo and Ida each having one with breakfast every day. I like to limit grocery shopping to once a week, so as you can imagine I come home with a LOT of bananas every week, in various stages of ripeness. It's ridiculous. Actually it's really ridiculous. 30+ bananas take up a lot of space in a grocery cart.
I ain't no Hollaback Girl
ReplyDeleteHoly cow, Ida is so adorable munching on that banana! I just recently purchased that same bib for Caroline. Do you like it? I'm not sure how I feel. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
ReplyDeleteI need to buy more bananas. They go like hot cakes here as well!
I've always love bananas myself, but there are actually lots of people who don't like them at all.
ReplyDeleteAnd Annie Burnham loved them very green!!
I LOVE the Kiddopotamus bib. In fact that is Theo's old one and it got a tiny tear in it about a year ago that turned into a gash, so I need to get a new one. But I really love it. It's the only bib I could keep on either child, that was effective but didn't irritate their neck.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Green bananas, GROSS. I like them very ripe. (but not mushy.)
ReplyDeleteWOW. That is A LOT of bananas! Don't you love buying them in various stages of ripeness? I try to do that too. But I never buy 30 in one week. Wow. Cute pictures!!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny you should mention bananas, because we love them too. Good thing they are in great abundance here, with many different kinds! I just put 3 bunches in my cart today (at various stages of ripeness), so i am glad i am not the only one.
ReplyDeleteYou need a tree!
ReplyDeleteWhoa! That is A LOT of bananas. Aaron is the only one who likes bananas in our house so I limit my grocery cart to seven, one for each day until my next visit. Owen liked bananas when they were all mashed up at the beginning of his life and now he just spits them out. I don't know why I don't like bananas, I think it is the texture, but I love banana cream pie, banana pudding, and banana bread.
ReplyDeleteI was very anti-banana until fairly recently, but according to family legend I was very pro-banana as a child. I think I got burned out. Beware banana burnout.
ReplyDeleteBananas are one of those things that I don't really like all that much, but every now and then I get a hankering for one and its great. Ryan and Jaime eat them every day though.
ReplyDeleteWorking at a grocery store, I don't have to buy 30 at once, I just get a few an y time we run out.
