When I first heard about it I knew I had to see it. Then of course I didn't, but finally Matt and I watched it a few nights ago.
It was much slower than I anticipated, but I still kept watching because of occasional laugh-out-loud moments. It was the kind of movie where afterward, I remember almost nothing about it. It didn't get the most fabulous reviews, but I'd watch it again, if only for Jack Black. Of course I'd watch almost anything he made (though Nacho Libre was probably a mistake). He's so ridiculous. (possible favorite Jack Black moment: "I was like, you better not! You better not!" - Orange County)
Anyway, speaking of ridiculous. You may not find anything funny about this scene from Be Kind Rewind. But I laughed...hard. Mostly at the old lady. I can't decide if I recommend this movie or not. You definitely have to have a silly sense of humor to appreciate it. You also probably need to see the previous scene to put it in context. If you don't think this clip is funny, then definitely don't watch the whole movie! Oh, and turn up your volume.
Do you like the videotaping of the computer screen? Old school, man! That, and I don't know how else to get content from a DVD onto YouTube since I don't have any DVD burning software. Go ahead, put those ideas to rest about how I am some kind of techie. (First clue would be that I used the word "techie.")
I enjoyed this movie a lot. I think anything with Jack Black in it is worth watching.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite line is "It's deeply deep." Oh Jack Black.
I love that movie SO MUCH. Partly for Jack Black, partly for Mos Def, but mostly because I have a secret crush on Michel Gondry. The man is WEIRD and I dig it.
ReplyDeleteI think there's a generation gap going on here - but I did like The Lion King.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about whether or not it's worth recommending, especially since there are good actors/director in the film. I expected better.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I am going to be able to watch this one, but I agree with you about Jack Black (and Nacho Libre). It makes it even funnier that he totally reminds me of Brigham's brother, whose wife would be so mad that I feel that way, but it all remains true and all the funnier for all of the facts involved.
ReplyDeleteGrannybab's comment is very funny.
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit it but I love the Jack Black. I loved School of Rock more than I care to admit.
The more times I watch this clip, the funnier I think it is. Now I want to go watch School of Rock and Orange County (my fave JB movies).
ReplyDeleteWe loved it. Especially because Mos Def always seems stoned.
ReplyDeleteDavid's favorite line, "It hasn't been Sweded yet!"
Whatever, I loved Nacho Libre!!! I like this one too, but have never actually sat through the whole movie. And yes, I like your haircut since like a million people have noticed it and I have failed to comment every time i've seen you guys, ya'll look great even ida no hair.
