Do you know what? I got some sleep this weekend. Not a ton, but almost enough to feel like a normal person. I even took pictures and loaded them to the computer.
Saturday and Sunday felt like home to me. My parents never had central air-conditioning, so we stuck out the So-Cal summers happily and sweatily. In our condo complex here in VA, the air doesn't get turned on until the beginning/middle of May, and inevitably we swelter through a few 90-degree days in April. Two of them were this weekend.
The 1-4 church that I often complain about was such a blessing this Sunday (and not just because it got us out of our stifling apartment). I left church feeling completely filled and ready for the week. Everything I heard was just what I needed, for myself, for my marriage, and for my kids. This week I resolve to be a model wife and mother.
To beat the heat after church, we stripped down the kids and tossed waffles at them for Sunday dinner. Classy! I let Ida sit on the table to eat, then yelled at Theo when he climbed up to join her. Or was it when he stood on the chair and promptly toppled over headfirst as I was taking pictures? Anyway, whatever I did, it was definitely model parenting.
I served my children waffles for dinner on Saturday night. It was hot, we'd only been back from the fields for less than an hour and I did not want a hot kitchen.
ReplyDeleteThere is just something about waffles...
Ida is the cutest thing ever. I love her chubby rolls on the table.
ReplyDeleteI love "breakfast for dinner" but your dad has never really been a fan. So we didn't do it often.
ReplyDeleteBut I still love it!
you would love it here, then, babs. omelets for dinner at least once a week (a foolproof way to get theo to eat any vegetable, chop it up and hide it in eggs), and almost every week we have pancakes or waffles one night as well.
ReplyDeleteChubby wrists and powerful thighs signs of a well fed baby. She's adorable Eliza.
ReplyDeleteWe do waffles/pancakes every Friday night. By that day we have run out of most of our groceries and fresh fruits/veggies so we have a breakfast dinner. It is such a fun tradition and I love that you guys to it too!
ReplyDeleteShes so cute I just want to eat her!! Maybe its because I skipped lunch...
