So, this is where we went...

The very exotic FORT LAUDERDALE! Actually it was really nice. Pretty much like most smallish-yet-touristy beach towns I've been to on the east coast. And we spent most of the time on the beach. Seriously, a warm ocean is enough to make you want to stay for a long, long time. Now if only we could get some bigger waves in the Atlantic. I am thinking I need to go to Hawaii for the perfect combo of wave size and water temperature. Matt and I were saying yesterday that ocean swimming is only fun if you're just a little bit scared to go in past the break. Normally I am not a thrill-seeker but for some reason I like getting smashed in the face by big waves.
I thought about purchasing a "SPRING BREAK 2009 - WASTED!" shirt because there were so many displayed and I was worried they might not sell them all. Small-business owners, you know. Tough economy. I'm just trying to be supportive.
We actually slipped in right before the spring break rush, so it was great. Nobody was too wasted, unless you count Matt and me after waking up with Ida all night. Actually she was really only wakeful for two nights, and on the last night--after a long, hard day at the beach--she nursed at 7 p.m. and then slept (minus when I woke her up for a few minutes to get her out of her carseat and put her PJs on) until we got up at 5:30 to catch our flight home! I'm so proud! I think I should record it in her baby book!
And I'll post more later because I know you want to hear all about our spring fling. Suffice it to say that I am hooked and I will need to go to a tropical destination pretty much every winter from now on. Although next time I want to go to southwest Florida and check out the Gulf of Mexico. I feel as though I have discovered a secret, which is really not a secret at all, but anyway now I know for myself and can act accordingly.
Going to Florida - so East Coast!!
ReplyDeleteI guess growing up in SoCal - and only experiencing living in Utah - I never even thought about going tropical in the winter.
But it sounds lovely!!
Looking forward to the photos!
Florida in March sounds perfect. I'm ready for a tropical vacation. The Cleve' is cold!
ReplyDeleteThere's really no need to go tropical in the winter if you live in So Cal. No "need," but I recommend it anyway!
