I don't know why, but I really like this version of "Shelter from the Storm." Maybe because I am a sucker for a beat. Maybe because I am not a Bob Dylan purist. (Maybe because I only actually know like 10 of his songs.) A fun game is to see if you can understand more than 15% of the lyrics.
Related: please note my new playlist. Season of love, people...season of love. I take requests if you're interested. Hey, wait a second, how did "I Swear" get in there??
I think I know maybe 1 Bob Dylan song, so don't feel bad. But now I will get obsessed and find all of his music and listen to all of it so I don't feel like I am completely Pop Culture illiterate.
You probably know more BD songs than you realize. Like a Rolling Stone...Mr. Tambourine Man...The Times They Are A-Changin'...Lay Lady Lay. It Ain't Me Babe. Knockin' on Heaven's Door. But I totally agree; I feel like I need to learn more of them in order to feel more culturally literate. And also to enjoy more good music.
A bit of trivia for you, according to the person who posted this video, the man in the bright blue jacket is T-Bone Burnett. Remember him?
I LOVE this song!
ReplyDeleteIt has been interesting over the years to see the changes in Mr. Dylan.
ReplyDeleteWhen he first came on the scene he was truly unique.
Now everyone is copying him I guess!
I don't like everything he does, but I do like some of it - mostly the old stuff though.
When I heard "In Need" I thought it was "Wicked Game" at first... and I'll admit, I was a teeny bit sad when it wasn't.
ReplyDeleteohhhh iiiiiiiiiiiii don't wanna fall in love...with you.
ReplyDelete(that was me singing 'wicked game' to you to ease your disappointment)

Learning to interpret BD is not that hard - I actually get most of them.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you have to be a child of the 60's!!
I love this clip because he looks so much like Adam Sandler in now.
