September was very Septemberish that year.

I don't know how it is where you live, but I am declaring today the first REAL fall day 'round these parts.

We stepped outside today for a little morning walk and it had turned into autumn overnight. I couldn't believe it. There was an assuredly crisp breeze, leaves swirled around, and my favorite fall thing which I had forgotten about: the sunlight has changed. I love autumn morning light. I love it more than I love pumpkin cookies and MORE than I love cheese.

It may warm up again and be too hot for long sleeves or apple cider but the sunlight will still be there to remind me that it's fall.

I think I want to break out the dutch oven and have me some peach cobbler.

This is my 3rd fall post in as many weeks.

Also--"Mushaboom" came on in Marshall's yesterday and got me thinking about Phoebe's post from last year about fall tunes. Click here to revisit and have yourself a good September Morn.

  1. I'm learning to love Fall as well. It's a process. Although Thanksgiving is my FAVE holiday.

How is the dairy free going?

  2. Autumn. I've noticed its little hints around these parts as well.

The changing of seasons is truly a blessing in which one can find beauty in God's creations.

  3. And we in SoCal are having another heat wave, albeit a mini-heat wave. And the one thing about fall here, the mornings are cool and so are the evenings - and the days are shorter. So a heat wave is only a problem if you are a P.E. teacher and have to stand out in the sun.

So I'm glad I'm a classroom teacher! And that we don't have to do yard duty (it's in our contract!)

But I have fond memories of fall - especially going to BYU and wearing my fun new school clothes. Because here we just keep wearing our summer stuff until Christmas!

  5. ahhhhh today was great! But I was afraid that it was going to rain or be super humid again (like it was on Monday) so I didn't walk to work. Sad.

    Anyway.

  6. Any takers on the post title reference?

Hint: it is the first line of a chapter of a book, and there are very few books I remember first lines of chapters of...

  8. So what's the answer on the title reference - enquiring minds want to know!?

  9. Thank you for asking Barb, the reference is in fact to the first line of the chapter entitled "Septemberish" in the much beloved novel Heaven to Betsy.

  10. Is that one of the famous Betsy Tacy books that I just remembered I've been supposed to read?

  11. YES Alex. I know you love Anne of Green Gables so it's pretty much guaranteed that you will like the Betsy-Tacy high school books. (I can't promise anything about the younger books; I read them when I was a child and that's why I like them. The high school books, I still re-read.)

  12. Geo, thank you!

I love your name. I suppose I am partial to the -eo sound in particular. My son's name is Theo. Also I like the name Georgia, which I am assuming is your full name.
