Weekend Update

1) General conference was amazing and will merit a later post (I'll try for this week, before the enthusiasm wanes) on tolerance, forgiveness, agency, how much I miss Elder Maxwell, and how much I love President Hinckley.

1.5) And speaking of LOVE, did anyone else LOVE that Elder Wood's talk? Never heard of him but his thoughts on peacemaking and understanding in "a world prone to giving and taking offense" spoke to me.Guess I'll talk about that in my Later Conference Post. And a million other things, if I remember them.

2) Guster was fun. This marked my 6th time seeing them in 4 years . . . I think I need to cut back. I don't need to cut back on seeing my Hannah and Mandy, though. Love those kids.

3) My portfolio (for graduation, which is 2 months away!) is due April 10th. Not thinking about much else in the school arena these days. And, I've finally figured out CSS. Sort of.

4) I will NEVER stop loving Betsy and Joe.

5) I actually watched "Weekend Update" last night--first time I've watched any portion of a new SNL in about 10 years and will probably be the last. Yeah, it was That Lame.

6) I am so happy today. It's a good feeling.

7) I need to go before Matt catches me blogging when I'm supposed to be doing homework. Don't tell.

  1. I'm going to have to cut back, too. I'm not a fan of the big venue. McKay Center sucks.

But that's just me. I'm just throwing that out there for you.

  2. 1) Greek Theatre, 2002--big venue, but outside; flanked by the John Butler Trio (WHY do I remember that??) and John Mayer; overall, good.

    2) Bricks, 2003--tiny, got stuck behind tall people, but still good (Once I stood on the platform at the back, I could see).

    3) Music Box Theatre, 2003--tiny, 10 feet from stage, acoustic JotR, overall fabulous. The Best, for sure.

    4) The U, 2003--small, not bad, but not that good either. I don't know if it was the crowd or the show.

    5) Wolf Trapp, 2004--big venue, but outside, and Matt and I were way close. Big Plus: flanked by Rufus Wainwright and Ben Folds.

    6) McKay, 2006--sorta big, and smelly. haha. Lost points for misleading publicity info, but thanks to ~j's heads up I didn't have to wait around anyway. (Also thanks to the 1 1/2 hours it took us to drive from SLC.)

Overall overall, I think maybe I really am done with Guster shows for awhile. But it was still fun. (It would have been so much better if I could have seen Adam play "Homecoming King" and Brian play "Bury Me.")

  3. I love Betsy and Joe too. I think it is my favorite of the Betsy books.

    And I really enjoyed conference.

  4. yes, SNL is pretty lame now, maybe you have to be in high schoolto thinks it's really funny - at least that's when i thought it was funny.

and i love the betsy books too - although my fave depends on my mood.

  6. I was just thinking about that, actually...and how it would also be fun to see a movie or TV version. I know, I know, it would "ruin" what we all have in our heads...but I read all the Little House books and kept those separate from the TV show in my mind.

Maybe you thought SNL was funny in HS because it really was funnier in the 80s? I don't know.

I go back and forth between thinking Betsy and the Great World and Betsy's Wedding are my faves. But I do love all the high school ones too. Don't you just want to go to Sunday night lunch??

  8. I want an Anna also. I would love to have sunday night lunches. And dancing and singing at my house. I've always wanted to have a tradition of muffins on the first day of school, but since I don't have an Anna, I don't have muffins either. (I guess I'm just not that organized or capable.) I also love Besty's Wedding. And I just read Carneys House party for the first time a couple of years ago and I really like it. I really want to dress like they do!
